I just bought my 1st vending machine, I’m new to the business & don’t really know where to begin. I bought a used snackshop 4000 model no. 4600. It only accepts 1$ & coins. I’d like to upgrade it to accept 5$ as well as a credit card reader. How do I go about making this possible? Any detailed help would greatly be appreciated.

You bought a dinosaur that isn't really worth upgrading.  D&S Vending may still have their LU-105 upgrade board but that costs $349 plus the cost if a new coin mech and new validator that will work with the new board.  You are looking at about $800 to do this before you can even put a card reader on it or accept a $5 bill.  This plus the machine is 30+ years old and you can see the bad investment you made.

If you really want to go ahead... The InOne board is an option that will provide MDB (the current connection payment system connection scheme, and required for card readers).

There’s no real point in updating.

It would cost probably almost 500-700 when all is said and done. Meanwhile you still have a really old machine that looks like a dinosaur.

Get a newer machine.

Any advice on how to clean a vending machine the RIGHT way? What chemicals to use or don’t use? Any particular parts I need to focus on more than others?

Soap and water or simple green.

The chip coils and shelves probably greasy as golpher.
