sterling Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 A bar manager said she just kicked a vendor out for poor service and appearance. She told me to bring in a machine with nuts and they will go through them. I haven't added nuts to my product line due to spoilage and the mess they can make. I also heard that in the right bar you can turn a good number/month. Anyone running nuts have any good comments?
nam Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Sterling, I've decided to just eat all mine. Actually in all honestly that isn't far from the truth. Cashews seem to sell but so darn expensive I've decided not to carry them. Also doing the same thing with mixed nuts. They were sort of a pain anyway cutting all the Brazil nuts in half and they are too expensive as well. I do still have peanuts but they don't sell near as well for me. Also the cannisters will discolor from using nuts. I've bought used machines with the labels on and I could tell which cannisters had nuts without the label - the yellowed ones. Now I've pulled some cannisters that had nuts and I've cleaning them like everything and afraid someone that is allergic to them might have a problem because the cannisters used to have nuts in them. Cleaning well and trying to switch to capsules in those cannisters. I see no mo nuts in my future. nam
T BIRD Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I vend nuts in a few spots. Cashews are 50 cents. Peanuts are a quarter.
Bravo Duck Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 High product cost, If you take the machine off location and put it in your garage with high humidity the salt from the nuts will cause it to corrode.
chowchowjailboss Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Make sure you use the dry roasted nuts as they seem to last the longest. I have a few locations that the nuts do well in but for the most part, I stay away from them.
Faith Vending Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I vend cashews only with pretty good results; has to be a location that fits and will eat fast. All other nuts I can't give away. Profit on cashews is about $10-15 a can from Sam's, not the best but a good service to the right location.
antoniocinisi Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I make $28 per can from sams, about $17 profit before comission.

sbishop Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I have pastachios and cashews most of my machines have cashews. It works really well in locations with other machines, I am the only one with nuts in town. Try to adjust the ammount you vend to help with profits. I ven both fro $.25
Amall23 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I have found some hot nut machines. They have a heating coil through the nut hopper that keeps them toasty! This sounds so cool that I'm gonna get one when I am established. Not sure how well it will do, but its got a huge cool factor and I wouldn't mind it around my house.
sterling Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 You might have a problem with a business owner letting use their electricity. In the right bar that would be cool.
