tarrence
Need advice on proper machine setup for vending. The service manual "Series 90 Single Price Venders" shows the 348 as preconfigured to vend a Can, 12 oz and 10 oz PLB. There are both brown cams and a single blue and gold cam for the wide column. The brown cams are set near the number 2 slot. The machine vends properly with 2 cans two deep in each narrow column, but does not vend bottles of any larger size, whether 16 or 20 ounces. Serial Number 2230 - 6130 CR. The motor cover reads: SHIMLESS STACK, DN903,832,640.11. (Pictures attached) The Product Shimming section of the service manual refers to a SERVICE BULLETIN 377. Is there a setup option for any bottle larger than the 10 oz PLB? Is the SERVICE BULLETIN 377 available? Also please explain the slave column feature? Thank you in advance! orsd
The only bottle that you can do are 16.9 oz. 10oz PLBs are long obsolete. (I guess you could technically do the 12 oz mini bottles as well). The setup for the narrow columns is pretty simple. Just set the cam to one notch showing, the pull the rear spacer forward so that there is one finger’s worth (about 3/8”) between the fully depressed sold out paddle and the bottom of the bottle, while the cap of the bottle is pushed against and touching the rear spacer. I believe the single price machines can only do bottles one deep. The slave column feature refers to a Coke feature. Since this machine was originally built for Coke it has 10 columns but probably only 9 selections. Coke has all their machines built this way, with less selections than columns, and one selection (usually the first selection) controlling two columns. This is so they can use two columns for more capacity for Coke classic, which is their best seller by far. Edited July 11, 2020 by orsd
tarrence
Thanks for the prompt response. Question regarding the cam setup for the single bottle. I attached a pic of the current setup that works with two cans. Not sure about how to tell how many notches are showing. Its currently set near the number 2 on the cam. I would like it to be able to work with the 16.9 oz bottle. Also, do you know the setup for the wide column blue and yellow cam? thanks!
orsd
There are 2 notches, a notch is simply where the cam isn’t round and has that sawtooth cutout on the edge. One of the switches is sitting in a notch right now. To set it pull the raised lip (8 o’clock position in the picture) towards you so the edge lifts up. Then turn the disk (there are 2 brown disks stacked, only the top outer one turns) until the little nub on the inner disk is in one of the little holes on the top disk, and only one notch is showing. tarrence
Thank you for the explanation. Is it the same process for the larger cam?
tarrence
Thank you for your help. The machine functions well with the setting instructions you provided earlier on all cams on both narrow and wide columns.
