I have been thinking about capping some fun size candy bars and vending them in a NW80 for 50 cents.  Anyone ever try this?  I see Sam has an assorted bag from Nestles - 150 bars for $10.  So thats 6.7 cents per bar before capping.  I have a bunch of break rooms and a bunch of NW80's in storage and some extra caps - so it would be easy to try it.  Not sure if the snack vendor would get ticked off or not.

I think that would be a hard sell at 50 cents, especially if a full-line guy has regular-sized candy bars for 75 cents in the same break area.  I know I'd go for the bigger bar if it cost just a little more.

Now, if you sell them for 25 cents and/or you sell candy bar varieties that the full-line guy doesn't have, you may be onto something.

just my 2.5 cents. :)

I'm inclined to agree with Chris on this one as in my area you see this machines selling the minature candy bars for 25 cents. Just don't think people will spend 50 cents on those little candy bars.

Also think the full lines guys will get ticked. If they are full line and you're doing bulk at least there's a big difference in what you both are vending.

I'd say go for it in places where thare are no full-line machines. 50c for a snickers is better than no snickers at all.

Well I decided to test this out since I have some NW80's in storage. The Hershey Minitures cost just under $10 and contains 185 bars for a 5.5 cent product cost per bar. I am going to do two bars for 50 cents, so the product cost plus the capsule is 14 cents per 50 cent vend or 28% PC. A bit higher than I want, but I pay no commissions there. I am replacing the buzz bites that did a whopping one dollar in sales for 3 weeks. I may test a few more soon as my gut tells me that this buzz bite stuff is not going to work out for me in a number of places.

Is there some trick or machine to encapsulate products, or do you really just sit down and capsule stuff yourself? Is it worth the time?
