lurtsman Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I've got a location I wanted to put on DI. I've found a supplier for the gum, but would still need to purchase capsules to put it in and vend through a 1inch machine. The cost of the empty capsules does make a noticable dent though, and allows for misvends when capsules break, as well as decreasing the amount of product I can fit in the head. (The location manager is grumpy, I want to come around as rarely as possible) Anyone modify some candy or gumball wheels to work on DI without capsules?
cavity Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I have the same situation, what type of machines do the SuperPro Vending wheels work with??
lurtsman Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 I don't know, they have their own machines with some kind of custom wheel. I tend to buy my machines for under or around 20 bucks though, and I don't know of any businesses that would intentionally sell machines at that price Even if they did, I like the idea of being able to slip it into a double that is already on location.
cavity Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I agree, I need to call Steve (SuperPro) and find out if his Dentyne/Certs wheels fit the seaga's/ rhino's/ v-line and the rest of the chinese knock-offs. Will let you know after I speak w/him.
lurtsman Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 Thanks Cavity. I've talked to them a bit also and they seem like a good place to get your product. I'm excited to try it, just don't want to sink money into any specialty hardware.
cavity Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Talked to Steve today, The wheels they manufacture are the same diameter and will fit the NW machines he says and POSSIBLY others, he's not sure. The problem with our normal wheels is that they are too deep, vending more than the 2 per vend we would all like. His wheels are much shallower which provide the desired 2/.25c. Options: Buy one wheel, see how it fits, vend w/capsules like many other folks do, or try to modify your wheel w/ a shim of some sort. He also had a good idea, put a small plastic box next to/on top of your machine so people can deposit the used capsules into, thus, reducing your costs for future capsule purchases. He says he gets @ 80% back. Certs- $32 a bag= @ 400 vends or $100 gross Dentyne- he said @7-8cents per vend(2) shipping- @ $8 per bag. OR if you buy multiple bags may go down to @$2 ber bag. that's the best info I can get, hope it helps. What is the best deal we can get on acorn capsules? Anyone?
JPVendCo. Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 where can I buy one of those DI wheels you are talking about? I want to try to use it as a template or example to make one for my other types of machines.....
cavity Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 you can buy them from Steve at Superpro Vending Group.
antoniocinisi Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 would this work for DI??? its for a NWno it would vend to many
cavity Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I think if you closed it up it would be ok. Not as deep as all the other wheels out there. Try it out, buy a pack or two from the grocery store and see how it goes. Try the certs too. Let us know.
JPVendCo. Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 roger that. will a NW wheel fit in oak machines as well? I just picked up a golpher of a deal on 25 of them. I will give it a shot.
polecat Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 All, As stated, it's the depth of the wheel that makes the traditional candy wheel not work. I know Beaver makes a shallow wheel that some operators are using for DI and it works great (setting 3,I believe). The NW wheel above also looks shallow which may work on a lower setting. Steve, spvg
