nam Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I have a specific question on the proper use of the gumball wheel setup for vending gumballs, capsules or 27 mm rubber balls? I have experimented using the riser (smaller semi round circle) and not using the riser to vend gumballs and 1" round capsules. They seem to vend fine with or without the riser. Are you guys putting the riser in or not and what is the factory suggestion on this? nam
chowchowjailboss Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I do not use the riser when vending Nerd Gumballs or jaw breakers as they will hang up if I do, otherwise, I put them in as the Double Bubble Gumballs will drop two at times.
nam Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 goldenagle, The Nerd gumballs are also 850's aren't they? I use the Ford Carousel 850's and have been playing without the riser in and they still seem to vend well? Also have been playing with 1" capsules and they also seem to vend well without the riser? So you are saying with your 850's sometimes they will drop two instead of one without the riser? I just tried like a small hand full of quarters. May 10 quarters and they all vended fine. So if I try like 30 I'll end up with a double vend once in awhile, right? nam
nam Posted May 12, 2009 Author Posted May 12, 2009 I've been waiting for U Turn to call me back and finally have the correct answer according to U Turn. They no long supply the riser with their gumball wheels and don't recommend you use them except with the 1080 size gumballs. They said you'll have more problems when vending 850's or 1" capsules with the riser in. This is what they have stopped including the riser as it causes more mis-vends. They did acknoledge it is possible to have an occassional mis-vend without the riser but it is not very often and better off not to use it. Hope some of you U Turn owners besides myself can use this info for your machines as well. nam
Jax Snacks Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I think Uturn copied the riser concept from NW and really didn't need it. The inserts are more important! Make sure you have the inserts installed for gumballs in order to NOT vend 2 gumballs. However, remove the inserts for capsule toys. Never had problems with that setup. Jax 1
gsnwag Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind for my machines.
