xeir Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 First off, I'll say that I RARELY participate in forums, etc. Mostly because I'm just too busy as I hope we all are as long as it's profitable! BUT .. yes the unavoidable circumstance, grin. Thought I would say 'Hello' and see what was going on here, even though I'm still wrapped up in finalizing the release of our application, VendSure. I'll just give a brief insight as to the who and what, in regards to myself. I assist in running the route out in Colorado for another that is on the forums here, think he goes by 'Outlander' on here. Where are you, come on and say 'HI!' if yer about. Anyways, we've been using an in-house project for simplifying our route handling for almost a year now. Granted it has constantly been growing as either one or the other has found new features that we just had to have to make things even simpler. Thus, VendSure was born. Feel free to stop by and take a look at the web-site, but please bear in mind that most of my time is going towards making VendSure end-user friendly, so the site is anything but complete at the moment. Website: http://vendsure.xeir.com Granted you CAN go ahead and request a DEMO serial number for the application, yet the application itself has not been released as yet. This borders on ironic in my view, but hey. It is going to be released for both Mac OS X and Windows and possibly even Linux. I'm still looking into the linux side of things. Honestly, the application is so close to release that it is painful, yet there are a few things that need to be addressed prior to release. Yet, expect it within a few weeks at most I would say. And Outlander or myself would greatly welcome any and all comments concerning your thoughts on it. In any case, I really didn't mean to side-track the introduction or anything. Hey, I just came from doing a route, enjoying a beer, and about to dive back into the programming for another few hours. Ok, so maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the beer just before I'm about to program ... yet, it's done. Grin! Cheers and I'm out of here for now! My regards to all!
nam Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 xeir, Welcome and glad to have you here in the forum and anxious to hear about your new software program. Maybe once you've had a couple beers you can post another thread and telling us more about "vendsure"! You just thought you weren't too crazy about forums. Wait till we all start talking about vendsure. lol nam
Rustinm Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hey guys, I just signed up with vend-trak not long ago. I like it but im curious about your software. I know outlander runs a ton of vendstars. Is the software very triple head friendly? Vend-trak as im sure you already know does not have fully functioning triple head features such as per canister tracking. I want to be able to track each canister from each location and as of now cant do it. How does your system differ from that? And welcome to the wonderfull world of vendiscuss!
Amall23 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Welcome to the forums Xeir. I look forward to an OS X program... you rock!
xeir Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Thanks for the warm welcome! Nam: As long as I don't have too many beers, I really don't think we want me programming cross-eyed. We'd have vending machines give out quarters when someone inserted an M&M instead. Rustinm: I've barely looked at Vend-Trak, so I'm not really familiar with its features for the most part. As the bulk of Outlanders route consists of 3-head units, VendSure is geared specifically for that purpose at this time. However, so as not to limit what people can do with Vendsure, there are plans to allow for even more heads, although this will probably occur sometime after the main release. You can track product & usage by canister. Although income is tracked by machine at this time. Every feature within VendSure is there because we use it. I do believe that most people will be very surprised at the versatility and openness of the project. We are trying hard to make everything customizable in regards to its expansion by means of end-user participation, if they so choose. While still maintaining simplicity by having VendSure do the bulk of the heavy lifting. Amall23: Good to hear. that was one of the many reasons we choose to do this, there just wasn't anything out there that met our needs. And the best part is the multi-platform versatility. Regards & hope I didn't ramble on too much, grin.
Outlander Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hey Nam Rustinm and Amall23, Have you taken a look at the preliminary manual. It will give you a feel for what is in VendSure. My personal favorites are: Export of a GPS file for running the route. A printed map of the locations to be run for a select period. The use of a handheld for field data collection, no more paper. And last but definitely not least, The shopping list with product and quantities needed. There are plenty of screen shots of the desktop and handheld applications for you to look at. The link for the manual is posted under the software review section. Please let us know what you think.
whistle Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 hey Outlander....your triple business is very impressive.....did you always have vendstars or triples? may i ask you what you fill your triples with mostly? and what kind of locations have you been successful with? thanks Whistle
