Hello Nick from NJ.  There's a lot more than many may believe in vending.  You will continue to learn for many years to come, should you decide to stick with it.

DO -

Ask questions...  there is a wealth of knowledge on this forum as well as in your area.  You just have to find who to talk to.

Remember that you're doing this because you want to.  If it becomes a chore then find something else.  This isn't a "get rich quick" or even "get wealthy eventually" scheme.  It's a business that depends on you.

Keep at least 1/2 tube of each coin in your coin mech.  This allows your machine to know that it can pay change and keep your bill acceptor "enabled".   If it doesn't think it can pay change, it won't accept bills.

Keep your equipment clean, maintained,  functioning and filled with product.  People are leary about purchasing from a machine that looks dirty, ragged, lights flickering, barely filled or always has "stole my $$" notes stuck to it.   Your profits will generally be a direct reflection of your maintenance habits.    This applies to the outside and inside of the machine.

DON'T -

Stock extra drinks in the lower area of your drink machine around the condenser.  Anything that stops/slows airflow will effect your machine's ability to hold proper temps.  If they don't fit in a column, take them back to the truck or store in the bottom of your snack machine.

Trust that the door closed. Always double check your vendor door and lock before walking away.

Use locks/keys that came in used equipment.  Just like buying a new house, my first order of business is to change the locks.

Fall for the location finders.  There are a lot of scammers out there selling locations that either don't exist or don't generate the volumes that they promise.  There is no shortcut.  Success in this business is based on your drive, determination, energy, ethics, creativity and discipline.   Go out and meet people and ask questions.

Do start with simple, reliable soda machines like Dixie Narco. Don't start or even think about running snack machines until you fully understand what it takes to run soda machines. You have already started backwards.
