nam Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I was just curious as to how many here are veterans? I spent 4 yrs in the Coast Guard. I enlisted between high school and college during the Viet Nam War. Thus the reason for my forum name being "nam". I never went and spent all four years in the states although lost some friends and relatives wounded. I enjoyed my time in the service but when you're young it seemed like forever getting those 4 yrs over with. lol nam
lurtsman Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Thank you for your service. I have the utmost respect for anyone who gives of their life to protect the lives and liberty of all Americans.

Served in Operation Noble Eagle (Protecting our cities with Air Support after 9/11); Operation Iraqi Freedom (Doha, Qatar); and Operation Enduring Freedom (Bagram, Afghansitan). DINSTAAR! "Danger Is No Stranger to an A.G.E. Ranger." My wife has faithfully served as a military spouse since Sept 30 2000. Being in the military can be tough, but I can't think of a more challenging job than a military spouse. To all the military spouses out there, we love ya!
WillisNYC Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Spent 4 years in the Army. Ft. Riley, KS just before Gulf 1. I got out the day before Saddam invaded. They closed the post right after I left and all my buddies went and served in Gulf 1. Luckily, no one killed in my unit, only one buddy died who flew choppers. My brother is still in and he is serving in HQ in Afghanistan. My hat is off to him and everyone else who actually served in the line of combat.
Threeponys Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Nam Thank you for your service as well as to all the other veterens. I served with the USMC for 12 years (79-91). Enjoyed all of it. Of course I was on the aviation side. Was with Navy Fighter Weapons School (Topgun) during the filming of the movie, a tour on the Drill Field, and ended with VMA-214 Blacksheep. Rich
