lurtsman Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I've picked up 2 of the 50 cent mechs as a gift from a seller. However one seems to stick some--I'm trying to figure out where it needs to be lubed, because right now a small child would not have the strength to turn it (It's not much trouble in a man's hand, but I want to sell to 4 year olds). So, two questions. 1. How do I keep the mech from jamming--on the double it drops the coins onto the candy chute, as they come out, they slip over sideways, and slide to a rest there. It doesn't happen every time, but it will half the time or so, and once there is 4 to 6 quarters on there (I don't recall exactly how many), the coin mech isn't able to do full rotations because the quarters are wedged in blocking it. 2. Where should I expect to grease the mech to make it easier to turn. (If I can make both of these work great, my zoo/sea mania products will both go onto the rack at 50 cents)
dperry Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Put something on top of the coin chute maybe? Folded piece of cardbord from a cereal box? That way the quarters will fall off when they land there. I've heard that this is a big problem for Oak 50 cent mechs. It is for this reason that many people prefer to use the A&A 50 cent mechs.
lurtsman Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 I've heard about the problem also, however...perhaps because of my own arrogance, I refuse to believe that I can not adjust the engineering to work better. I will try to get pictures of it up today or tomorrow. I'll see I can do with encouraging coins to make their way somewhere else.
lurtsman Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Realized the 50 cent mech for 1 and 2 inch is the same. There is hardly room for a regular 25 cent mech in the oak vistas--it nestles up against the candy chute cover. With the 50 cent, I tried sliding it a little side to side with the bolts out, but it didn't make a difference. The coins are simply released too soon and the focus of the coin ramp is to drop them down--not over. In the 25 cent mech it pushes the coin far to the left. The 50 cent mech was designed around the 2 inch machine where there is nothing directly behind it, and it is dumping coins into a large plastic container.
JPVendCo. Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 ok, i may be blowing hot air here, but could you put a coin sweep in the mech or is the thing too big as it is to accommodate a marginal depth increase?
nepavend Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I only have one mech like this, and it is an A&A 50 cent mech and I can vouch that it works great when I have tested it. I am hoping to get some Sea/Zoo Mania I can change into my rack at my #1 spot for 50 cents to boost sales.
cnavendingofnepa Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 We run many of the OAK Vista 50 cent coin mechs and found that occasionaly the mech will jam up when inserting only 1 quarter on the right side. After closer examination I determined that there were some small burrs on the coin wheel itself. (this happened on several different mechs) I filed the burrs down and the coin mechs worked fine. In reference to purchasing 50 cent coin mechs for the OAK Vista machines (A&A PO89 equivalent) I was just told by A&A Global on 5/26 that they do not carry a 50 cent coin mech for the OAK Vista/A&A PO89 machines. They were suppose to come out with them quite some time ago but have not as of yet. They do have the 50 cent coin mechs that fit the Northwestern series 60 machines and their A&A equivalent machines.
westlakevending Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 since i sold you the mechs i can tell you how to fix them. use w d 40 oil and spay a few shots down the slot that quarters go and that should make it easier. if you have any questions email me direct. I use the .50 mech with a .50 cent 1.1 capsule item sbob balls
lurtsman Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 Okay West, will talk to you about it in PMs. Some great ideas coming up in here. These do have coin sweeps, but they get stuck on the coins. I'll try spraying.
westlakevending Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 The reason your having this problem isnt due to the coin mechanism the problem is because your inside chute is not all the way down or your flapper door isnt all the way down but check those and spray wd 40 in the mechs inside and on the back around the springs and hinges. these will work out great just check those few things. I understand that most parts are interchangeable with oak/A&A/eagle
cnavendingofnepa Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 We purchased several used "Eagle" machines and found that everything was interchangeable. Actually we purhased some parts to refurbish some of them. These Eagles are not the latest version. I heard that the newer Eagles are not interchangeable.
westlakevending Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 If anyone is interested ive got .50 cent mechs here going for 12.50
