Gizmo Vending
To start, you will need plenty of coins in the coin mech. Lots of quarters especially. And nickels. Then you’ll need product in columns or at least the sold out switches pressed in. Assuming all this is set then what brand of validator and settings are set on the validator. mooner719
vn2512 mei i beleive .....i am not at the machine right now. the validator connector has 2 pieces that plug into the validator also i am wondering if that is the problem
Gizmo Vending
If it’s hooked up wrong it shouldn’t take coins or 1 dollar bills. If that is working then there’s a switch setting that isn’t setup or could be it doesn’t take 5’s. Switch #6 needs to be ON.
mooner719
#6 is on def. i think the problem is the wires to the validator. the wires that are in the machine now has 2 connectors for the validator. and when i try to put a different validator that will take fives the 2 connectors do not work. so when i switch wires , do they plug into the board in the same place on the board? Gizmo Vending
Are both validators MEI or is one a coinco? The harness will plug into your validator with one side going to the boards MDB harness and the other end going to the coin mech. Without a card reader you shouldn’t get these mixed up. mooner719
i think i remember now that it is a 110 volt 2511 validator the wire has a ground wire that has to be fastened to the machine
AngryChris
Does your validator say flashpoint on the back where the red LED is? If not, it's probably not tuned for new 2008 $5 bills and can't be updated. You could confirm this if you had an old pre-2008 $5 as it would happily accept it and give credit. If that happens, you know your problem.
AZVendor
The two connections to the MEI validator means that you are running this harness: https://www.dsvendinginc.com/p-2374-d01-12-065-4-marsmei-validator-harness-6800h5800h-series.aspx I think this is the serial harness so that is the switch settings you need to use on the validator. But again, it also sounds like the validator isn't flashed for new 5's, which some MEIs can't do. Yours needs to have the Flashport wording on the label or a red dot on the i in MEI to indicate it can be flashed to new currency.
lacanteen
Sounds like L+ set up rather than MDB. I don't think non-MDB will allow a $
