Bevmax 4 trips breaker when compressor comes on

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I have a Bevmax 4 as the title says. When the compressor kicks on, the fan In front of the compressor DOES NOT SPIN, and the breaker trips shortly after. This led me to believe that the fan motor was bad, causing a overage on amp draw, so I changed it. It’s still doing the same thing with a brand new fan motor and the fan motor still doesn’t spin.

Any input appreciated!

Since the fan is wired in series with the compressor I would think you have a loose wire going to the fan motor or that isn't properly connected in the start relay and capacitor wiring.  If the compressor is hot because it keeps trying to start but is overheated from the fan not running you need to fix this before you burn the compressor up.

Thanks for this input. Any idea how to remove the start relay? Been trying to figure out out no luck

Your positive the compressor turns on?

sounds like a seized compressor or something on its  circuit is grounding out.

time to get out the multimeter. A machine schematic is your best friend.

Yes it comes on for about 10 seconds until the unit trips. The compressors gets noticeably colder. The fan does not start spinning

Please just pay an experienced vending repair tech to diagnose and fix it for you.  Something's up with the wiring.  Leave the start relay alone. I think you also have a bad overload but the point is moot until you fix the wiring.

I agree with your assessment of the wiring. It seems that something on the compressor is going to ground, which explains why the fan won’t spin, since it’s in series. I’m going to take apart the relay and see what I can find.
