Not Dispensing Product

Hello, this is my second time trying to learn my way into Vending for my boss, and again I’m flailing. It’s an icehouse that’s been in the family upwards of 60 years. Boss wanted to replace both the coin mechanism and bill validator, so we bought the units this community’s feedback suggested.

Coin Mechanism: MEI TRC-6900H

Bill Validator: MEI VN-2511

Cable Connecting the Two: 12 pin Wire Harness (MARS VN2511 / VN2501 BILL VALIDATOR TO TRC-6800H) 

Connected to vendor via Coinco 8 pin Jones-style plug.

Problem: We insert money (such as two one dollar bills), it gives correct change ($0.50), but will not dispense product. Nor will it accept more money (presumably because no product has been vended).

Yesterday we emailed the company from which we bought them. I thought I would start a discussion here as well for the benefit of community posterity.

 I’m a new to this as they come, so I’m willing to learn or try anything. I’ll keep this thread updated if I learn more. Thank you for your time.

Edit: The previous coin mechanism and bill validator work just fine dispensing product. The old devices are the Coinco 9370-SR Coin Mechanism and the Coinco MAG50B Bill Validator. Switches are as follows:

New relevant info and clarification added.

It sounds like the credit is being set because you get change and then more money is not being accepted.  That means that something beyond your credit relay is not allowing a vend to be made.

I’ve edited my original post with additional information. The previous mechanisms dispense product, but the new ones do not.

 I agree, that’s fair. As I said, it’s about 60 years old and, from what I can tell, follows the same family handcraft as the entire icehouse:

You might try changing the Escrow To Select switch in the coin mech.  That was used for cigarette machines in the past.
