Crane National vendor 147 - not working

As a courtesy I went and took a look at a fellow business owners, Snack Machine he was having trouble with. It’s a Crane National 147. When you turn the power switch on, it starts to sound one continuous beep non stop. The display is on but just shows  “********”. Non of the front selections buttons do anything, nor do the system buttons either. Upon turning on I did notice the coin mech cycles and spits on a few coins. The bill Val doesn’t seem to cycle. And neither coin mech or bill Val will accept any money. Any thoughts on what this might be? It would be helpful. This machine is a little out of my comfort zone. It’s not MDB and much older than most the snack machines on my route.

Turn it off and remove the florescent light if it has one.  Then disconnect the bill acceptor.  Now power up and see what happens.  If you get the same result then power down and unplug the coin mech.  Power up and see if the display changes.  If it does the it's a bad coin mech.  If it's still out of order then it is a bad logic board.  Make sure the light isn't dark at the ends as that can cause interference and make sure the power cord has a ground pin.
