Vendo 721 issue

I have an older vendo 721 at one of my busy locations.  When a customer pays with a credit card, the usat reader will, authorize and then say “please make a selection”.  As long as the customer waits for this prompt - a product can be selected, the item vends, and all is well.  However, if the customer presses a selection button before the card reader says “please make a selection”, the led screen gets frozen on “vend”, nothing vends, and the card reader shows a sale of $0.00.  So - the customer does not get charged but has to wait for the machine to clear and reset before trying to use it again.  Once it resets, the customer can use their card again and buy something as long as they wait for the card reader to prompt.  None of my other 721’s do this - the rest of them just flash the price of the selection instead of saying “vend” if an item is selected before the card reader prompts them, so I am not sure what the problem is.  Any help greatly appreciated.

I have had vendo 721s do weird things with an older eprom.  If yours is 12.1, and if the version is something around 1.15 (or version 15), then you need to update it.  You should have either 12.4 board or 12.1 board.  The eprom you need depends on that.  You can call vendo and order from them directly or call D&S and get the latest eprom depending on which board you have.

If you have a 12.1 (trade door with Red LED display), you will need 12.1 rev 35

If you have a 12.4 (Chameleon with Blue LCD display), you will need 12.4 rev 50.
