Colorjockey
I recently acquired a Dixie Narco 501T soda vendor with a S2 control unit and Coinco BA30SA bill collector. It works great other than this issue. . I have the price set to $1.50. When inserting bills it will only take the first one, then stops collecting and requires coins for the balance. I tried to change the escrow (“ESC”) program from “p-r” to “E-S4” and “E-S4”. The “E” settings seemed to fix the issue, but only for 1 vend. Then it goes back to accepting only the 1st bill, even though the program is displaying the updated escrow setting. . Could it be that it isn’t holding the memory. . Or that there is another bill collector setting that I am missing. The machine functions totally normal otherwise. I am new to these older vending machines, so no answer is too basic. Thanks! AZVendor
Haven't we already gone down this road with your eprom? If that isn't fixed yet they why ask the question again? Otherwise you might need E-S1 instead or it should truly be on p-r. E-S4 is for allowing the machine to be used as a bill changer so it's not a good choice. To begin, you must have a properly functioning coin mech so make sure it's full of coins and works properly.
Colorjockey
Thanks for your reply. I’m trying to understand what these program settings mean. Can you please explain the differences? Which one is best? Thanks! Also, do you think the eprom could be related to this issue? I was thinking it might be a separate problem.
AZVendor
The manual https://www.dsvendinginc.com/images/pdf-manuals/dn15.pdf explains it. p-r is escrow to price which refers to once money inserted in the machine meets the lowest price in the machine, no refunds can be had and a purchase must be made. This is how single price machines with no logic board operate. E-S4 is escrow to select which will hold the last bill in escrow (but stacked) until a purchase or coin return function returns the money to the customer, all in coins. Hence this being bill changer mode. E-S1 is also escrow to select except that it will hold the last bill in escrow (parked in the belts - not stacked) and if a coin return function is enacted that bill will be returned with the rest of any credit being returned in coins. You might try an different bill acceptor as well.
Colorjockey
Thanks. So E-S1 and E-S4 are similar. Except E-S4 returns the last bill instead of all change, so you don’t encourage people to use your machine as a coin changer. Do you have any idea where the battery for memory is in this machine? Dixie Narco 501T with S2 control board. It’s an older machine and I imagine it’s been left unplugged for a long time. That makes me wonder if it’s losing the settings memory. That is if the EPROM isn’t our problem. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for your help. My 15 year old son has started a small business with 2 vending machines and 2 triple head candy machines (all bought with his own earnings). So we are very new to this and appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Edited July 5 by Colorjockey
AZVendor
If you don't lose your prices then there isn't a battery issue. That and Space to Sales are what are lost when the board loses power and doesn't have a backup.
