Credit Card not working after plugging in the coin mech.

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased three machines in locations and two had Greenlite Pico CC readers and the third had a Nayax reader.   To keeps thing simple and easy, I ordered a new Greenlite Pico CC reader, removed the Nayax and installed the new Greenlite.   After getting it installed, the CC reader would just read "Cash Only".  I checked the wiring and I am 99% sure it is correct.   The Y cable from the CC reader goes to the MDB first and splits to the bill acceptor.   The second cable from the bill acceptor goes to the coin mech.   I isolated the issue to the coin mech.  I can plug in the CC reader alone without issue, then add the bill acceptor without issue, but as soon as I connect the coin mech, the CC reader stops communicating with the MDB and it eventually goes back to "Cash Only".    The Nayax CC reader worked without issue.

The machine is a Piranha G424 with a Innovative technology BV20 bill acceptor and MDB interface box and I am unsure of the brand of coin mech (pic attached).

Any idea what the issue may be?

Thanks,

Why would you buy machines from that company?  They are all imported.  You need to replace the coin mech with a known good mech and I would use Mars or Coinco, not some offshore brand.

I just reread it and saw MDB interface box.  Does that mean your box is plugged into a 12 or 15 pin socket in the machine?  If so, that is probably your problem.   They will cause slow coin payouts mostly.  They were just a way to make a MDB mech work in a micromech machine. You could have a card reader that needs a firmware update (most do when brand new) or your machine eprom needs updated compared to the others you have, or the interface box can't handle what you're asking it to do.

AZVendor, attached are a few pics of the internals of the machine.   The MDB interface comes off the side of the bill acceptor with a wide plug on one side and two normal 6 prong MDB plugs on the other side that originally went to the control board and coin mech.  The Nayax reader worked fine with the bill acceptor and coin mech, but not with the Greenlite reader.

That looks like a convertor of some kind for the bill acceptor. It's too bad you didn't ask about these machines before you bought them.

The machine worked without issue prior to changing out the CC reader.  I can always put the Nayax back in and call it a day, but I am wanting to use the same inventory/CC processing for all of the machines.
