Peroni33
I recently acquired my first vending machine, a Merlin IV 67100. Everything is working fine besides the bill validator. When I put $1 into the machine it accepts the dollar, then adds credit to the machine. But when I make a soda selection it spits the dollar out. The bill validator seems to be doing its job. I wasn't sure if it needed to be replaced or a possible setting that needs to be changed on the machine. Any other opinions of the Merlin IV, and also what to look out for would be much appreciated. tblake05
Does a product vend? Or just a dollar comes out and credit erases? Are there coins in the coin tubes? At least half full? I think you may need to add coinage using the menu- tube fill function. Or the machine doesn't know there is change.
AZVendor
If the bill is rejected without the machine actually vending then you may not have sufficient change or you need to empty the coin mech and refill using TUbe Fill. Tube Fill is used in MDB machines to count coins into the coin mech. If it's messed up you'll have and issue like this. If it is vending then the bill acceptor needs to be repaired. It's not stacking the bill and the stacker is messed up as it thinks it stacked it when it's rejecting it. Your machine isn't a 67100, I think that might be an eprom number. You have a Merlin 4.

Yup, I believe that is the board revision number. (which IIRC is the earlier board that cannot handle the latest eprom update), Chris correct me if I'm wrong. Vendo Mike
67100 is the firmware. There should also be a rev # after a hyphen. If you were to update the board, you'd change the eprom with another 67100 but with a higher rev #.
Peroni33
Thank you for the suggestions. I emptied the coin fill tubes which were full, and the "Exact change" light came on. Went into tube fill mode, deposited 20 of each coin into the tubes and it counted each coin. Then closed the machine and the exact change light went off. Sadly still having the same issue, it accepts the dollar and gives credits. But when a button is pressed the dollar comes out and it clears the credits dispensing nothing. Is there by chance anything else in the menu that could be changed? Also I thought the coin tubes might be bad but when I push the small button on the rear it ejects coins. Works fine when just using change though. Any more advice is greatly appreciated! Edited September 30 by Peroni33
AZVendor
You need to empty the tubes then use the tube fill mode to "pay out" all the "coins" it may still have in memory so the tubes are at zero. Then refill the coin tubes by dropping them in the top of the coin mech. 20 coins each probably won't solve your issue so fill them up. Fill the tubes in this way so the machine is all set up and then power off and on and try again. If it still fails again then you either have a bad bill acceptor or maybe a bad MDB harness to it. Peroni33
Okay thanks I will try tomorrow Edited September 30 by Peroni33
AZVendor
https://www.royalvendors.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/giiiplus.pdf Follow the instructions from page 20. Use CPO to payout all the change and then Tube Fill to manually fill through the coin mech.
