Motors not running.

Recommended Posts

I have a Genesis 173 office deli combo machine. It’s been working great but now the motors suddenly stopped working. There’s still power to everything (cc reader, coin mech, bill validator) and I’m able to go to service mode, but when I test vend, no motors run. I checked the internal wirings and it looks fine to me.

could this be a blown fuse or something with the power to the motors?

Anything helps!

I have had several of those Genesis Chinese combos. If you really must fix it, Replace the board. If that doesn’t fix it, scrap it. Personally I would just replace the machine with a good machine.

Check the motor common wire to the control board with an ohm meter.  Also look for bad solder joints on the back of the control board where the motor harness plugs in.

Is there a motor test in the board controls?  What happens when you do that?

Unfortunately Genesis has been out of business for years. There’s a motor board and a control board.
I found a little help a while back from Capital Vending. They were one of the few places that carried a pretty decent Genesis parts supply.

PS - They are kinda grumpy 😅

Thank you. I’ll recheck the wiring and also check if there is any bad solder joints.

There is a motor test vend option in service mode and when I try any selection, not a single motor runs. I can hear it trying but it doesn’t not fully run.

The last time one of mine did that I replaced the motor board. All the motor harnesses plug into it

That’s awesome. That gives me some hope haha. If you experienced the same issue when none of the motors were working, I might just purchase a new motor board and see if that solves the issue.

I originally bought seven machines. Of the seven machines five machines had motor issues. Three of them were resolved by replacing the motor board. Another was resolved by replacing the board and another one was resolved by repairing the harness. The machines had a two year unlimited warranty. During that two year time frame everything you could think of went wrong with these machines. On the third year the company just disappeared. Phone disconnected.

Thanks for that. This is good information. And that’s unfortunate how there’s no more support from the company.

Trying to narrow down my specific issue… I would suspect that the motor board might be the root cause. The reason for this is because everything else works (cc reader, bill validator, coin mech, display) and I can even put the machine into service mode. I ruled out the harness because I find it odd how all of a sudden all of the motors that turns the coils from three different wire harnesses (A Tray, B Tray, C tray) doesn’t work anymore.

hopefully my theory is right going with replacing the motor board.

I’d be curious to see a picture of the components on the “motor board”..... if you have a chance. There may be a known failure component on it that you could replace yourself with basic soldering skills.

Good idea. I’ll make sure to get the motor board off the vending machine and upload a picture of it tomorrow! Thanks

Don’t forget to give Capital Vending a call

Called them. They mentioned it’s most likely the main control board that’s needs replacement.
