276e add Freon

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I just placed a 276e and part of a package deal got a second 276e that was an attempted break in that was stripped but has potential after a good cleaning.

it’s missing mech and validator plus siid board and I think some harnesses.

I plugged it in and the compressor turns on, but doesn’t seem to get cold. I didn’t mess with it much, but @AZVendor is there a stub end on the compressor of these?

if it has a good cooling deck, I’m half tempted to replace the bent up t handle plate and missing parts and put it back into service.

im in it 500.00 for the both of them.

It's not worth putting money into a vandalized cabinet that is missing so many parts.  If it's not so many as you describe then you'll need to see if you can find the parts somewhere - that could be the challenge.  There should be a stub on the compressor that a line tap can be put on to.  Single price machines are so cheap now that it would be better to put your money into a complete and working machine.  I'd say you overpaid for these but that might be all you could find right now.

Thanks AZ!  276E has the SIID control board, multi price, and MDB components.  At least mine do...?

It sounded like it was missing more than that.  You mentioned a harness too so I was thinking someone removed the door harness.  Make it pretty and good to go.

Hey @AZVendor I have two working decks! The one from the parts machine was just a touch low on Freon. Cools great! I found the stub, it sticks out of the compressor on the left side kinda by the drain pan.

next question though, they have the thermostat capillary routed oddly through a cutout on the right side of some shielding for the evaporator. It looks strange, touching metal, and the actual capillary is in the updraft of the cool air behind the evap that’s being blown upwards into the cab....

how should the thermostat route on these and where should the capillary end be?

E models use that slot.  Any models earlier than that have the cap tube pushed into the brass tube behind the evaporator.  The factory thermostat had the end of the cap tube shaped into a cotter pin shape to fit in the slot but the aftermarket ones just need to be formed into a loop at the end before putting into the slot.  Only about 1/2-3/4" protrudes into the shroud.
