Arkansas rob
Hello - I just found this group and am looking for some support. I’m young with a limited budget and time. I have 3 N2g4000 machines in locations. One of my machines has been giving me trouble. Initially there was no response from the keypad. I called seaga, explained my issue, and ordered a new one for $130. I just installed the new keypad and now there is no display shown. The display is lit up but no words. I called seaga and spoke with someone who recommended replacing the motherboard for around $540. I asked if there were any other options and he said he didn’t think so. I bought these machines a couple of months ago for 3600 but I am getting nervous about how much I’m needing to spend to keep this one afloat. Does anyone have any ideas or alternatives? Gizmo Vending
I would see if another display from another machine would work. But that would depend on a few factors. How far apart these machines are from one another, how busy they are etc. you do this to make sure it is the problem. But the last thing you want is 2 machines down.. Another thing you could try is if in your area you have a parts and equipment supplier, check and see if the do a board exchange.
AZVendor
Gizmo, there are no board exchanges by anyone for Seaga crap- you have to buy them and Seaga doesn't even sell rebuilt anythings. There you go Charlie, that was for you. And it's doubtful that anyone would have much experience with these machines unless some Blue Sky seller flooded the market with them there. I would definitely take the logic board, the display and the harness from a working machine and put it in the bad machine and then introduce the parts one at a time to see which one fixes it. Do the harness first, the display second and the logic board last. And if the part you install doesn't fix the issue then put the original back in. You want only one part from the donor machine to be in the bad machine at a time. You know, this could just be a programming problem too.
Vendo Mike
If the display worked before swapping keypads, I would check to see if the keypad was incorrectly installed (I.e plugged in backwards/upside-down or shifted a pin or more left or right and missing a pin on the connector. if the board and display are good, you should be able to unplug everything but the power and display harnesses and fire up the machine. If the board is working, you should get something on the display. Even if it’s just error messages. From there, start plugging things back in one at a time being careful to Shut down power before plugging/unplugging anything.
Arkansas rob
I was tinkering before my keypad swap and there’s a chance I unplugged/plugged some things while the power was still on. Is it possible this could have contributed to my issue? @Vendo Mike
Vendo Mike
Definitely possible. If the board burned due to a improper installation you should smell it. If there is a card reader on this machine, I'd unplug it from the MDB and Dex ports first. Card Readers can cause your machine to have a blank display while it sets up. Otherwise, unplug everything but power and display and build from there. How old are these machines? ALWAYS POWER DOWN BEFORE INSTALLING/UNINSTALLING ANY PLUGS. cvending
also try to reinstall old keypad and see if display will work. Just plug it in, no need to fully install.
Charlie613
@AZVendor thanks for the shoutout … @Arkansas rob one last thing; in the event you do need to purchase more hardware, if you’re the intrepid type, eBay is almost always cheaper than manufacturer
