Ceez
Hello all, 3 can vend motors are stuck in the open position, not allowing me to close my (can loading) door cover. I have an error code of "TO58" (time out). I have successfully replaced a bad can vend motor in the past but my question is. Does this indicate that all 3 of the can vend motors need to be replaced ? If so I cannot find any for sale online anywhere. (Part number 16700014) Any suggestions ? Thank you
AZVendor
What happened prior to this occurrence? It's odd that three of them did it at once. Did you have a recent exploded can in the machine? It could have soaked the motor and switches with sticky soda.
Ceez
Yes. I believe a can did explode inside, since I see a soda stain around the loading door. Would cleaning the can motors out with an electric contact cleaner spray be an appropriate way to proceed fixing this issue ?
AZVendor
You can try that but if this is on location you need to remove the can module from the machine, disassemble it and hose it out and clean it thoroughly. Your doors are going to be sticking too, which can break the door linkage. If the can broke due to your loading of it then cleaning is all you need to do though that's a huge undertaking. If it froze and exploded then you also need to replace the cold control.
Ceez
Yes. It is on location. After looking at the service manual, I don't see anything named the can module. Can you please explain how to get to it and disassemble it to hose it out ? Thank you
AZVendor
Crap. I typed for what seemed like 20 minutes on my phone and then it disappeared. I don't understand how anyone can live with only a cell phone. They really are utter crap for other than voice communication. I forgot to suggest that you check the harness connections on the right side of the module to ensure they are tight. Then did you try any test vends of the stuck doors to see if they will home themselves?

Yes I've tried to test vend the stuck open slots but they still fail. Ok I'm going to open up the loading door this weekend and start cleaning it. If the machine is still cooling the cans. Do I still need to replace the cold control ? 6 hours ago, AZVendor said:
AZVendor
If you want to clean it while it's still in the machine then you need to remove the front of the module. Remove the candy shelf and then you'll see two brackets screwed to the top of the module that wrap over the top of the module door assembly. Take those off and then carefully lift the door from the bottom channel. Years of soda leaks will have glued the bottom into the channel. The foam insulation on the door will also be glued to the cabinet. Removing this will give you more room to get into the cabinet, buy not by much. The vend motors and delivery doors are all in the way. Only a little room to get in is available at the bottom of the cabinet. This is how you would reach the motors if you replace any. If you froze any cans then yes, you want to change the cold control. But get the correct one and install it exactly as the old one is, especially the capillary tube. Ceez
Hello. So I opened up the machine to clean it and discovered this. Is this the cold control you were talking about ? If so, how should I proceed with the repair ?
AZVendor
It could be frozen due to low freon. Leave it off to defrost, put some towels around it, and then restart it when the evaporator is clear. That could have made the motors stop.
