Fermo Vending
Just picked my first one up so I can stop worrying about coin levels at one of my busiest locations. I have it programmed to DCA, but is there any setting I need to change in my machine to make sure the mech dispenses dollar coins for change? I'm installing it into a crane national 157. AngryChris
The coin mech will determine what to pay out.
Fermo Vending
Just plug and play then?
AZVendor
Yes. The only time a dollar coin should pay out is when a $5 bill or higher is used and more than $1 needs to be paid out. One caveat about MDB machines, however, is that they need to have coins counted into the logic board. So if one tube isn't dispensing it's likely that the machine doesn't know how many coins are in that tube. When that might happen you need to empty the coin mech of all coins and enter the Tube Fill mode. Then use the payout buttons to zero each tube, then manually drop all coins into the top of the mech so that the machine can count them in. This is in addition to any tube sensors that MDB generally ignores.
Fermo Vending
Haven’t been able to locate the tube fill mode on the 157, but I’ll go through the MEI manual to see if there’s a way to do it in the mech itself. appreciate the help as always
Fermo Vending
Seems best practice is to have the mech empty upon install and then to load the coins manually to run the coins into the logic board
AZVendor
Yeah, I don't see it in the 157 manual either but I didn't read the sections it could show up in. I don't believe you can zero the counts in the coin mech itself but it could be there.
Fermo Vending
The 7512 manual seems to say that the mech will read the tubes after start up, and then will do it again after loading them. Hoping that the mech will relay the info to the board.
Vendo Mike
The default setting for "payout mgmt" is to use the least number of coins possible. This will allow $ coins to be dispensed as change for a larger bill. That's a setting in the coin mech itself. Before you start playing with those settings though, make sure you understand them. Fermo Vending
I saw that in the manual and surmised that's the best option for me for now. I really got the mech to avoid the hassle of worrying about the coin levels, and I have no doubt it's going to prevent that
AngryChris
I think what AZvendor is referring to was from the early days of mdb. I almost never have to do a coin fill ever. I replenish coins at many machines. I'm pretty sure anything with software newer than 2005 will allow the mech to manage its own coin inventory. The downside (which isnt very common) is that you can have a machine says exact change only if a tube sensor is failing but the 7512 uses sonar so it doesn't happen to it on just one tube usually. The sonar isn't perfect but usually pretty accurate. I mean I RARELY do a tube fill.
