CoastVending
Thank you to anyone taking there time to see this post and help. I recently acquired a Royal Vendors Merlin 3 Coke front machine someone junked, and I'm trying to see if I'm able to fix it. It has many problems that I will list out here- 1. The screen doesn't turn on or light up at all 2. The main lights don't turn on (they may be dead, in the video you can see the left light flickering) 3. Missing coin eject button (I have seen these for sale, if anyone knows a site I should buy it from that would be great) 4. Door switch is disconnected, If anyone can tell me how/link a video on how to reconnect it that would be amazing 5. The bolt that the T-handle drills into is loose, resulting in a lock that is almost impossible to close (not the biggest issue as it still works, but just an inconvenience. All of these are demonstrated in the video that is linked with this post, any help at all would be great, Thank you all! Also if you need any additional information to help diagnose this machine, just ask and I will provide. I cut the video down, as it was too big to fit here (limit is 1.74 MB) - https://clipchamp.com/watch/HVOcy9sMuRB
AZVendor
This was tough to watch with the camera flying all over. First of all, it's a GII machine based on the short front columns. Those are can only columns and I'm not sure it can even do bottles because its a...GII. I've never seen a GIII with those columns. The lights need to be replaced at the very least and/or the ballast is bad. You can reconnect the door switch yourself - the wires go to NO and COM. The display is off because I'll bet the logic board is off. Check the fuse in the top of the door above the lights. The T-handle nut is supposed to float there but it might be missing a small bracket to keep it kind of in one place. The coin return button is callout 9 on page 46 of this manual: https://www.royalvendors.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/gii.pdf

This is all very useful information, Thank you! I'll make a more in depth video for better detail and include that video here--- https://clipchamp.com/watch/0W6QHHBgFCO --- The Fuse on the upper side of the door above the lights is a little damaged, Like I said I don't have a lot of experience with this so its all new to me, I don't know what I would do about the logic board being off. I'll keep posted here and give updates as I go along the road to possibly fixing this machine. Thank you!
CoastVending
Update- I ended up finding the coin return button while clearing out the leaves near the bottom of the lights.
tblake05
AZ don’t these ones have display board or cable issues? I might have a new display board for this one if the OP can send me a picture of it.

I might have a new display board for this one if the OP can send me a picture of it. Here is a video and a picture of the display board. When I initially unplugged it and plugged it back in it did light up, all 0's for about 30 seconds, then back to no response (even after unplugged and plugged back in). --- https://clipchamp.com/watch/wowAeyjOFTG ---
AZVendor
Solve the door switch issue and then see if the display works when you close the door or push or pull the door switch plunger.

I wired the switch and it didn't result in anything new. I also looked at the fuse, It seems to be fine (I included a picture as well)--
AZVendor
Does the logic board have any LED lit up on it?
tblake05
Try it with the door switch disconnected. Then short both wires of the switch together and try it again. All the door switch does is close a circuit. though even if the switch were your issue, I think the display should read something. Maybe jiggle around the display cable as you watch the display. I’ve had a flaky cable in the past. They can be purchased on d&s still or capitol I think. pretty sure that I have that display only the updated version of it. I’ll check later on tonight when I get home from work.
tblake05
Ps that display looks pretty rough. Like it was outside for years. Any corrosion on the connector ends?

I jiggled the display connector while it was turning on and now it works great, if anything happens now I know its the display cable. The door switch works perfect now aswell, and the vending is great and smooth. Thank you all for your help! All I need now is to get replacement bulbs for the lights.
CoastVending
Does anyone know where I could get 2 T12 61.25 In' 80 watt bulbs?
AZVendor
A lighting store. You won't find them at HD or Lowes any longer. Maybe old stock in an Ace Store. However, since this is a Coke door you need the High Output bulbs (HO) that will be harder to find and more expensive. 1000Bulbs.com has them too but only by the case. If you can, do yourself a favor and find yourself some LED bulbs that work with a ballast Done.
