AMS 39 acting up

Recommended Posts

Good morning.  I don't have a lot of experience with AMS combo machines and I'm struggling to figure this out.

It's an ongoing intermittent issue in which the machine either spits out too many items or nothing at all.

Things I've tried to resolve this:

- power down/power up

- clear errors on control board

- used the "reconfigure motors" command in the settings to verify setup - this re-homed the motors as well

I noticed last time I was called in for this, that several motors were out of "sync."

Any ideas on what is going on with this unit?

Thank you.

What version of AMS is it?  Sensit 1, 2 or 3.  S1s had a horrible time with extraneous light shining on the glass and then the sensors would age and work poorly.

Thank you for the responses.  I stopped in yesterday to work on the unit and gather some additional info.

- It is an early Sensit 3 unit.

- I do not have the option to calibrate the drop sensors.

Errors were as follows:

1. Homing error - 17 occasions.

2. Clean screen

*  Once a motor had a "homing error," "make another selection" appeared when you tried to select a that product.

I noticed that the wire for the product detector sensor (the one at the bottom of the hopper) was off the sensor and found the connection to be broken.  I've ordered a new detector.

The machine seems to be working fine now, without the product detector sensor - is this normal?  However, the machine has had periods when it behaved normally after I reset everything in the past.

I called AMS tech support.  They had me unplug a 4 pin plug from the control board directly above the service mode button on the control board.  The 4 pin plug had 1 pink wire coming out of it.  They said it was not necessary and may be causing the homing issue.

I'm not convinced this thing is fixed...I'll be stopping in daily to check on it.  Any other suggestions?

Thank you.

You can turn the motor switches on and off so that you can use the Sensit system or not.  This is in the programming.  Maybe, having disabled the Sensit system, it's defaulted back to motor switches.

Test the voltage at the outlet you're plugged into while the compressor is running. The issue you're  having is almost always caused by a voltage drop. If it is a voltage drop issue, you would have to go into "Tray set up" and set it to "sensit". If it's the bin sensors themselves, you want to set it to "home only" which is setting number 4 under "motor type" in tray set up I believe. If it IS a voltage drop issue (voltage coming up 106ish or lower when compressor is running) and you don't have an alternative outlet to plug it into, the new updated control board is made to handle it better. $550 from D&S vending.
