"Invalid program, try new program" AP 123

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have an Automatic products 123 that is giving me a " invalid program, try new program " error. The coils start spinning a couple times when I turn it on and I can't get into any other menus. I took a 5.24 Eprom out of my other machine to try that to see if it would work and it wouldn't. I should mention, the machine did spark and fry my card reader that I had on it about 3 months prior, but worked otherwise since.

How did it spark and fry your card reader? We’re you unplugging stuff with the machine on and plugged in?

Did you try a full machine reset/ram clear as outlined in the manual when you put in the latest eprom?

I thought of this, but I couldn't go through any menus due to the INVALID PROGRAM error that won't allow me to go through any of the menus. I assumed I had to go through a menu like you do on the National ones. I Just read up and it says to unplug everything and then remove both chips as well as the back up battery and then replace. Is this that's all that's involved?

No, there’s a ram reset procedure as outlined in the manual. I think it’s in the security menu. I had to do it 3 times when I replaced my eprom.

but if you can’t get to the menu…. It won’t help.

when did “invalid program” start? Immediately after you replaced your eprom?

what does it do with your old one?

Both Eproms do the same thing, just give me the message over and over on repeat. The invalid programming just happened one day randomly when I was opened the machine, I saw it spark and then it started turning all the coils and giving me the invalid program message error. And now I can't do anything to enter any menus that i've tried atleast.

Umm, you blew your board.  An eprom won't get around that.  You might have blown the coin mech and bill acceptor too so you need to get them bench tested before putting a rebuilt board in or you could blow the new board.
