Jt22 Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 Hey everybody, New to the forum and new to the vending industry. Looking forward to learning more about the ins and outs of the business as well as our “new”Machine. We bought an AP 113 snack machine for $1000 here on island, which we were happy about since you don’t see these come up very often out here, especially not in decent shape. there wasn’t too much information on the machine, but previous owners had installed a lot of new parts and then seemingly never used it. Like an MEI Bill recycler, card reader, new digital display and new board. The bill acceptor/recycler appears to have never been used and was completely clean except it did have some gecko eggs in it that gummed it up, but after some very tedious and careful cleaning, it’s working great. Still need to see if we can switch the card reader over to our business. It seems like it is totally operational and accepted a card through tap, which is great, but we have no idea whose account it’s hooked up to or where that money would’ve gone. My main issue right now is that some of the motors, when selected, will run, but also trigger another motor to run, usually down on a different tray. There do appear to be a few motors that are missing. It looks like they removed a few of them to make room for some larger sales items. Looking forward to diving in and learning more about this. AZVendor Posted January 1 Posted January 1 You need to determine the brand of aftermarket board in the machine and get the manual for it so you can see if you can turn off what might be called multi-vend or combination vends where you sell two items at the same time. If that isn't an option in your logic board then you have a wiring or board problem.
Jt22 Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Thanks AZ, It’s an inOne board and I don’t think I ever saw that option. I also cleared and reassigned each motor to its correct number for the whole machine and it did not make a difference. It does appear that a previous owner had removed a few motors to make spots for larger items. i went through all the wiring yesterday, cleaned all of the contacts and pins. It all looked good for the most part. Also I tested the battery on the board and it only read .7, when I believe it should be a minimum of 2.2 volts. Which would explain why it has not been remembering my prices or other settings. And it sounds like once that battery goes you need to replace the whole board anyway?
Jt22 Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Here is a list out of which motors get triggered by the selected motors. So in the list the first number is the one that I am testing and the second (and third) number(s) after the - are the ones being triggered. As you can see from the list, it is always the number five and number seven position in the tray that seems to trigger the other ones. For a couple of them, the selection will trigger two other motors to run. and then at the end,F7 only does about a half rotation. Motor selected -Extra motor triggered Select A5-F12 is triggered A7-F3 B5-B3-F5 B7-B3-F3 C5-C3-F5 C7-C3 D5-F5 D7-D3-F3 E5-E3-F5 E7-E3-F5 F7-1/2 rotation
AZVendor Posted January 2 Posted January 2 You may have a bad logic board because those are over the place. I don't see any consistent errors of X5 or X7 selections that would lead to shorted or grounded shelf wires 5 and 7 but you might have damaged wiring from rodents in the machine. Is the battery removable from the logic board? Is it a CR2032 battery? if so, just replace it and then see if anything changes.
Jt22 Posted January 2 Author Posted January 2 unfortunately, I don’t believe you can change the battery on these boards. There are no coin batteries on the board and I believe I read somewhere that the battery for the board is soldered in. There’s no rodent damage, I pulled out and I checked through all of the wiring and cleaned all of the contacts on the pins and the harnesses at the back of the trays. So it does seem to me, to be the board. I ordered one from DS vending yesterday and it looks like it shipped out this morning. appreciate your help in thinking this through.
Vendo Mike Posted January 2 Posted January 2 113 didn't use a "coin battery". If memory serves, they used a larger battery adhered with double-sided tape or a soldered down version that looked a lot like a capacitor.

There is a large capacitor type cylinder and then also a second smaller one that I guess could be the battery, but I’m not much for soldering.
Vendo Mike Posted January 2 Posted January 2 If you're not comfortable with soldering, you can do more harm than good by trying to replace it yourself. Capacitors will have a Voltage and uF (microfarred) rating on a band around one end. A battery will only show operating voltages. 1
AZVendor Posted January 2 Posted January 2 He said he has an InOne Technologies board, not a 113 board. Check with InOne to see how to replace it.
Jt22 Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Hey there, Hey there, Just wanted to give an update. I did end up swapping out the control board for a new in one board. It took care of the Settings memory problem. It did not take care of the multiple items vending problem. That took a little more diagnosing. I ended up, pulling out each tray, one at a time and running the machine and testing all the motors while each tray was out and disconnected. Finally, on the very bottom tray, when it was pulled, the rest of the machine ran great and the issue of multiple items vending when you would choose either a number five or number seven item stopped. From there, I disconnected each motor, one at a time and put that tray back in and tried the machine until I found the culprit motor. Once that motor was disconnected, the rest of the machine worked great. So that was it, one bad motor with, I’m assuming a bad ground or short somewhere in it. Now onto getting the card reader and cashless payment set up. There was a cantaloupe reader on there when we bought it, but cantaloupe has not been able to reach the original owner and so they cannot transfer it over to us. Since we have to get a new one, I think we might go with NAYAX. Also thinking about going completely cashless for this machine since it will be essentially outside. Just trying to cut down on the likelihood of vandalism. In the spot that it is in, there are motion sensor lights, a camera and someone who lives about 40 feet from where it will be. Hopefully that will be enough to keep the vandalism down. I will also be making a steel cage for the front to protect the glass and hopefully deter more vandalism.
