drink vending
Hey everyone. My web developer said that forums are old school.... that forums are a thing of the past. When I look at other people's blog, I can't "post a thread". Is there any advantage to a blog vs a Forum like VENDiscuss? Need your opinion! Thanks, a San Diego Vendor. sbishop
yeah the advantage of a blog is that the blog's owner keeps more control over what is posted. So, if you are tring to sell a product, you can only allow positive blogs and comments on your blog. Forums are the best way to have an open discussion
G-man422
Forums are old school? I would say that forums are the best way to learn and teach on the web. Almost anyone can post comments on a forum and this allows for a variety of different views and opinions. Blogs have their place, but you have to realize that blogs are just from one persons point of view. I have ready a couple of blogs on vending and learned a lot, but I always chase it with a good dose of Vendiscuss.
caserri
I'd say go for the blog. I don't need the competition.
drink vending
HAHAHA caserri, that was funny. No worries, I'm not going to give you any competition. At the most, I'll be guiding more traffic to Vendisuss. G-mann422, thanks for reminding me that blogs are a one person view point. One other thing I did notice about a blog is that I can't see all the comments as I can in a forum. Any other opinions on Blogs vs. Forums? I have never seen a Paypal button on a blog, but I have seen them on a forum. I guess I should be making a donation soon, huh?
sbishop
I registered the domain name vendingtruth.com and put up a forum....Then I found this site and knew I did not have a chance. I pulled down the forum and put up some clickbank links to a couple of ebooks while I decide what to do with it. No need to worry Caserri, After finding vendiscuss I knew that I would be wasing my time trying to compete. I was looking for a domain to use for full line location signups. with some craiglist post pointing to the site.
Dantron
I've seen paypal links to donate on many blogs... I think you may want to discuss your goal of having a blog or forum with your web person and together try to figure out what you want to achieve with either a forum or a blog (or both) and how either one is going to help you make more money. Typically, some issues with forums are spam posts - possible pornographic, and with most blogs, I don't see much in the way of pictures, whereas in forums, it's often quite easy for even guests to post pics. dbk

I would just forget about the forum idea alltogether.
