dsimms
What is the best quality triple candy machine? I know a lot of you think 1800 triples are the best, and if so, then what do you think the 2nd best qualty triple would be? I am sure vendstar is somewhere near the bottom. dsimms
I seen a NW triple forsale in my area for $125, and comes with another misc triple. I may make him an offer or buy it. people say NW triples are good. I have not seen any on ebay, and they sell for $225 at sams...
whaletail116
You want to know where to find good buys? Find abandonded machines, call up the phone number, and place an offer for it. They usually want to get rid of it. I've purchased 5 or my 7 thus far. One of which I purchased last week. I met the guy and paid him $50 for a 1800 machine that's placed in a hotel lobby. I went the next day to top-off the machine with candy and there was $59.50 in quarters in the machines! Some people just get burnt out or can't handle the machine anymore and don't want to bother listing it for sale. Trust me, they're out there! joebob051977
The best quality Triple candy machine...hmm. I would say the NW Triple Play is probably the highest quality. It quite expensive, $225 at Sam's Club. I have a used one that I got for cheap, and I've never had a problem with it ever. It feels very durable. I pity anyone who tries to steal the thing. It weighs a ton. I doubt that I will ever have any problems with it. I have a black one, but I saw one of the Red, White, and Blue ones not too long ago and it looked really nice. Jax Snacks
Something else to chew on... A triple will always be a triple. But individual heads are modular and can be configured to meet the demand/needs of any location. I want to control the number of selections and the types of products that get vended (i.e. candy, gumballs, toys). Some locations will only support 2 products, others will support more, others buy only candy, others will buy gumballs and toys. I have pulled many 4-select uturns from break rooms due to fact that most of them are only buying two products - no matter what I put in them. Candy is only 40% of my revenue, and I need machines that can vend gumballs and toys. The older vendstars don't support ball shaped products and will need a costly upgrade to do them. I also have restaurants with uturns with all toys and no candy. I don't believe that one size fits all in this business. Flexibility is key for me and triples can not give me that. Where single heads can be made into doubles, triples, mini racks and large racks. I just lost three locations with NW triple heads and I am going to tear them apart into doubles for other break rooms. Sometimes excess doubles in storage get converted into racks and sometimes racks get broken down into doubles. So for me, it's more of a flexibility issue than a quality issue. alyssamma
Jax, I have to give you some respect for that post. I've seen what you said posted here before, but I think you spelled it out very clearly and newbies here would do well to read it a couple of times to make sure it is fully understood. For me, I am part time and this is just side income. The ease of a single, lightweight machine (i.e., Vendstar) is more important than anything else. But if I were to decide to do this for some real $, what you said was very good info. To highlight a few things that might be missed... 1) Candy is 40% of your revenue. Like so many others have said, to do this for real cash you need to vend non-candy items. 2) Be flexible. Mix and match. Many vendors will switch product, but you are saying to also switch machine configuration. Kevin
Jax Snacks
Thanks Kevin. My intent is to not get into a machine bashing war. Simply put, the triple does not fit my needs. I also realize vendors who are part time, full time or just starting will have a different perspective on this. I also understand the economic realities that play into this. I am really glad that I am not starting out today as equipment costs have sky rocketed. So I understand that fire sales prices on triples can be hard to pass up.
