chrisdunn77
has anyone ever tried to spray paint the vendstar 3000's? i have 7 of these that work great but look weathered. i once used this plastic spray paint (i got it from walmart) on plastic lawn furniture and after a couple days it dried hard as a rock and looked great. my thought was to clean them up, spray the body and stand, buy new canasters and send them back out. what do you guys thing? davidsurvz
That might not be a bad idea if it cleans them up. Years ago when I had a small route I painted all of my machines gold and black. They looked great when I was done. It might be a good idea to try it our on your "worst" machine and see how it goes.
mxer518
Paint can make just about any machine look a lot nicer, the key is to prep them the correct way so that the paint goes on nice and stay nice. I once tried to paint an old vendstar parts machine and it worked great but took some different prep to get the plastic to hold the paint and not chip off. chrisdunn77
what about the candy tray? if its spray paint will it harm anyone? i no i can make the paint "stick" I'm more worried about making someone sick or something.

Never thought of that because I do not use trays on any of my Vendstars. The ones that I have seen painted only painted the body black and all the parts that are in contact with the candy they keep them the standard gray plastic, it actually looks very nice. chrisdunn77
i never thought of just leaving the candy tray off. that would be a good idea, at least on the ones that need paint.
mxer518
Yea in my experience they break off sooner or later so i figure just take it off before it breaks. I think it makes them look better and more streamlined than when they have that HUGE over sized tray.

joebob051977
OMG! That look's 100% better than the dull grey that they come in. Good job, I'd love to see more photos.
chrisdunn77
i'll try to post more later, and to answer the other question. it's a plastic paint i get at walmart. clean them up give them a light sanding and spray them about 3 to 4 times it comes out real nice. I'll agree it looks nicer. But I was expecting a more dramatic change. Maybe some angled shots so we can see front and side, then side and back. How about painting the top part, and the pole? chrisdunn77
i did paint the top, back and pole. all with that plastic paint. the top and back was just painted in gray but the poll is a black with sparkles in it. it looks really cool in the sun. sbishop
I am now thinking of painting my vendstars. I have 110 and some of them are faded on the sides. So I saw a guy on ebay sellin his and he had paited about 10 of them all different colors. What color would you pain them? all the same or different colors? I am leaning toward the same color as this guy painted the canisters. Unless i wanted to end up with rainbow machines when replacing broken canisters. Also I was thinking of a black base and pole with the top a cerrian color.

sbishop
I bought the same type today. I painted and extra base and a cracked canister as a test. So far they look great. All of my account making $30 and above are going to get a new painted machine.
