cavity
Hey guys and gals, I need some help with a new location. I was offered to put a triple in a covered area of a warehouse that is not airconditioned and close to a door that is frequently opened. No GB allowed, candy preferred. And to top it off, we're in FL! Any revelations?
West Coast Vend LLC
That could be a problem but, if it's not in direct sun you could put, Cry Baby's or M&I, Skittles, Runts or any other hard, (non-choc.) type candy. M&I could stick together but that would be the worst that could happen. Make sure you spray the base to prevent ants from getting in to the candy. I would spray every month to be safe. cavity
Still HOT here in Florida. I won't have any concerns in winter but for now I need some alternatives. By the way, chocolate will melt between 96-99 degrees Fahrenheit.

I do not miss the heat in FL - and I dislike the winters in MN, but we do not have long summers, which is good FL on the otherhand carries heat a bit longer. massmann
I Wondered about the same thing. Since it's going to be cooling of a bit now choc type candy ok? What about peanuts or some other type of nuts? How profitable and how do they hold up to heat until it cools off?
bacho
Don't trust Skittles in high humidity. They will clump just like Mike & Ikes. It happened to me. Have a breakroom where the AC broke down and they stuck together in little clumps. They got real soft also. Being you're in Florida, you probably have as much humidity as I do in Louisiana. Try Boston Baked Beans in place of PMMs. Any hard candy will stand up to the humidity. Peanuts will produce bugs in any heat. I don't trust them. lurtsman
Not to be a downer, but BBB suck at selling. I have a few bags of them, if shipping wasn't so expensive I'd be trying to sell them.
dperry
If you are using a vendstar, you can also try nuts like peanuts and cashews. The salt will kill your metal machines. Prolly hafta worry about ants and gnats tho, but you hafta worry about them with any candy you use anyway. But at least they won't clump up on you, and the peanuts at Sams are about the same price as Skittles and RP's.
joebob051977
The only things I can think of, besides the mentioned candies are Spree, or Runtz
cavity
Good ones!! Actually chewy spree and runts are the front runners at this point. Still searching for one more good selection.
West Coast Vend LLC
It's funny how different the tastes are from East to West. I couldn't give away either one of those items here on the West Coast. Now for the final item? How about jelly beans? Gary
cavity
To be honest, I think the JB's will be too sticky. Not so much from the heat, but combined with the humidity we have here in Florida, I think it will probably clump like the skittles do. I also forgot to mention in the OP that this is machine is in a "warehouse type" location for kids, no adults. I was thinking Bleeps, but nobody seems to have any input on them. I remember as a kid they were pretty popular but don't see them too frequently any more. Thanks for all the replies so far guys.

A warehouse type location for kids, but not adults? Some kind of play place like Chucky Cheese?
lurtsman
Warehouse -- for kids? If kids are passing and you don't want it heat sensitive, toys, toys, and more toys.

cavity
It's a Sweatshop! Bulk vending wasn't cutting it for me anymore. We need to make some serious ca$h and this is the best thing I could think of. Mostly undocumented Asian and South American kids ages 3 1/2 to 9 years of age. They make all kinds of things you use on a daily basis. And I BANK on those WELL manufactured items. But, the products Are MADE in the USA , so I feel that it's legit. China has nothing on me! I don't give them much time to eat, so I thought a candy machine would be perfect, only takes a few seconds away from their daily grind and gives a boost of much needed energy. I thought about Buzz Bites but, they taste like $hit... For goodness sake, I don't want them to hate me PLUS, they put their hourly wage(.25c) right back into my machine!! It couldn't be a more perfect operation! I highly suggest if you don't own an set up like this, you should look into it. I also sell a book " Sweatshop for bulk vendors" available now for only $39.
cavity
Seriously though, The competition in Orlando is pretty fierce so I didn't want to divulge all the info. But who gives a $hit. It's a kids skatepark we were looking at. Bikes, skateboards, ramps, halfpipes, etc... It's like a big open warehouse but no A/C. Tons of kids. Thought maybe 1.1 caps with stickers would be ok, but we'll see. Still looking for your professional opinions. Thanks for the stream of replies. Quarter Master
Cavity, I have an indoor roller skating rink that called me last year for machines because he finally kicked the other vendor out because of bubble gum and candy getting on his wooden floor. My machines have only toys that were selected by the owner (and myself) and he is happy with it. A 4 head rack that turns about $200-250 monthly. Something to think about on the gum and candy in a place like that.

West Coast Vend LLC
I have an account called Ice-o-Plex in California. It's two full size ice hockey rinks. They have leagues play on it and all the other times it is open to the public. Are you the only vendor in the account? If you are, 2" capsules, 1" capsules, stickers, tattoos, crane machines will all do great. Even snack & beverage machines. These are all the items that are in my Ice-o-Plex and everything sells like crazy. It's kids of all ages and adults all day and night.
