Medical Vending

I searched the forums for a couple different variations of the wording for this topic and did not find any information. So here goes...

I would appreciate anyone that can give information on medical vending of non-prescription medication such as advil, tylenol, ect. How are the profit margins are there many suppliers (for some reason I can only find one), and is this a dying market, or just as recent been untapped? I know I work at a facility that could SURELY use a small wall mount machine for medication supplies.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,

Barry

I do not know how much you would like me to elaborate on the topic but it is a huge part to my business that never really gets spoken about. The best thing I can tell you is if you get the right machines you should not need to service them anymore than every 6 months. The profit margins are very good compared to other types of vending, in most cases I am making 70cents on the Dollar for every vend. This is a very under developed market, I am picking up accounts left and right for these machines with no problems at all that will net 1000$ plus per year. One thing to not though is that every account will 1 of 2 ways either a commission account making at least 30% or it will be a subsidized account that is paying you somewhere around 75.00$-100.00$ and you still keep the profits.

I tell people all the time it is a whole different type of vending, I am involved in some other types of vending that do the same. Not all accounts of course will do this but I do have a group of them that I get a check every month from.

**STANDS UP CLAPPING** Kudos sir....kudos to you, you are a better man than I. I have not been doing this long enough because I feel safe in saying that I do not have the balls large enough to not only ask for a company to pay me....but STILL keep full profits. **STANDS BACK UP CLAPPING**

I have one important question. Would you please inform us brandnewbians of your suppliers and the machines you use??

Thank you,

Barry

i keep flip flopping on deciding if you were trying to be rude or not. If a place wants a aid box serviced on a regular cycle but it wouldnt be worthwhile cause of slow sales then something (or in this case someone) has to give.

I am involved in a franchise for the medical/personal care vending, this is because it allows me to take advantage of national contracts such as huge malls and national movie theater chains. For all that do not know when you are in a franchise the parent company negotiates all the terms and conditions. So in my purchased area if there is a movie theater on the national contract list all I have to do is go in and let the manager know when I will be installing the machines on the walls of their bathroom, they can not say anything since corporate has already worked out all the details. This makes for very pleasant vending experience when nobody in the business can say anything to you about the machines. This is a very complicated type of vending that I am in and EXTREMELY expensive to break into, so unless you are very serious and fairly liquid on funds it will be next to impossible.

For the record I was trying to be funny (though that doesn't always work for me) and most definitely did not want to offend. For the record, I actually stood up from my chair and clapped! I am impressed to say the least and didn't know that you could actually ask someone to pay your company money to put a vending machine in their business. That's FANTASTIC!
