Double Bubble Trouble

Hello everyone. I am hoping that I have someone who has fixed this problem before and can give me some insight. I have u-turn machines and I just bought a case of double bubble for my first time (gotta like the numbers). Though I am reading that there are better balls out there than mine (yes I did that on purpose). Other balls is not the issue, it's the balls I have that are the issue.

My question is this. The uturn is deep and two balls keep attempting to vend at the same time, causing the machine not to turn because of one gum ball jamming the turn style. This is obviously a major problem and I am unsure of what to do. Any help or suggestions from someone with more experience would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Barry S.

It sounds like you are using the older style gumball wheel which sometimes would slice a gumball into two pieces and cause some jam ups.  Don't fill the canister over 5/8 full to help keep the weight down.  The older wheels have just 1 spring and the newer ones have 3 springs.  I have never had a problem with the newer wheel.

Hey Barry,

Can the opening (holes) on the U-Turn gum ball wheel be adjusted? Are there small screws next to each hole? If there are, you can close down the opening so 2 balls don't get in. Here's another thing to check. On the U-Turn, is there a plastic "C' shaped piece that seats below the gum ball wheel. What that does is stops 2 balls from stacking up and dropping down the opening when a quarter is inserted.

I'm afraid my balls are TOO big...I am using the 850 ct. The problem is the gumballs are getting sliced in half as Jax had stated. I knew this equipment was older when I purchased it (I got 9 U-Turn machines for $500 bucks). I was wondering if I was going to need to buy the springs which I see all the time in other U-Turn machines which are not included in mine. Anyone willing to sell some to me?! If all I need is an upgraded piece for my turn unit then I will make that purchase. Jax (aka the MOTM) do you know what part number this is so I can specify it to U-Turn when I call or look it up on Ebay?!

Thanks for all the suggestions,

Barry

ANNNNND I figured it out...I should probably be embarrassed but it had nothing to do with the size of my balls. They are plenty big. I was using the completely wrong kind of turn-style and had NO IDEA (yes I am new to this) that there was a whole different mech for vending gum balls! I appreciate everyones input. I purchased the new mechs on eBay and they should be here in a couple days.

Thanks again for everyones input,

Barry

You are fortunate to have found some Uturn gumball wheels on ebay.  They do not come up that often.  You are also fortunate that you can vend gumballs and even capsule toys (by taking out the inserts) without having to jury-rig anything.  However, Uturns still can not vend  2 for 1 gumballs.  Have fun.

Dubble Bubble ain't the problem! Dump the uturns and get some real gumball machines cried Tbuford. Use what the pros use. Buy direct from the manufacturers. For pan candy and gumballs. Oak Vista, or Northwestern Super 60's or A & A PO-89's. You can put all on pipestands. Tbuford's favorite Charity set up is two machines on an A & A pipe stand.

All three of those models wont help at all when they have candy wheels in them. The OP has figured out what was wrong, and is working on getting it corrected. And I'm guessing they don't want to "dump" machines they have already paid for.

Welcome to the forum.
