Jax Snacks
As old Astro on the Jetsons used to say, "Rut Row"! Looks like Quill no longer stocks Carousel gumballs. The 850 count was discontinued according to customer service. My guess is that the 1080 count is still in stock until it is sold off. It was a good deal while it lasted! But their recent price increase made it less desirable anyhow. So.... Is anyone going back to Dubble Bubble? I am still not convinced that their problems are behind them yet. I guess I need to rethink my gumball strategy! Jax
T BIRD
Jax........I have been buying gumballs from BJs for $17 and change. The quality of them are fine. No peeling etc.
Faith Vending
I have been using Oak Leaf since I found a local distributor who stocks them. Very fresh and tasty and last. I pay $16.50 for a case of 850 count. I don't know what the price is if you order directly from them.
davidsurvz
I have been buying Dubble Bubble from Sams and they are fine. I have bought both 850 count and 1080 count. The 850 count are usually in stock at the store and they are cheap. What were the problems with the Dubble Bubble?
Jax Snacks
Looks like Quill is now offering Bubble King from Oak Leaf for the low price of $38.99! Jax
Bravo Duck
Jax, the last time I ordered directly from Ford the cost including shipping was $22 and change each case for 12 cases. Service was fast too, two or 3 days. Tom
davidsurvz
I am curious what the problems were with the Dubble Bubble GB's?
Jax Snacks
Sam had a nationwide recall of Dubble Bubble (can't remember the date) due to stale, cracked and/or chipped gumballs. The new batch seems to be better and no one has posted a complained yet. I even have a case here and the gum is fresh and looks good. The second hand info I have is this. The gum went down hill when Tootsie Roll purchased them. Apparently Wrigley originally produced the gum base (or formula) for them. The gum base formula had to be changed since Wrigley would no longer produce it for them any more since Tootsie Roll is their competitor. The new formula could not hold up to the weather, shipping and storage environments each case goes through to get to the shelf. Their sales rep claims that, "The problem is behind us." - but he is a sales rep! Jax
davidsurvz
Interesting, I'm glad I missed that batch.... I haven't had any issues with GB yet and I have always run Dubble Bubble in my route. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that was going on. David
