ifishli
From other posts and from exp in video games servicing can can take some time, we had a video customer that was always too busy for counting. When you do a charity is it then just fill, collect, go and count when you get home since the location is not getting a cut anyway

mxer518
counting money on site is one of the quickest ways to loose an account for several reasons, but in my experience the owner sees ho much money you are making and then they get the great idea to kick you out and put their own machine in its place. Now if you are paying commissions the most professional way to take care of this and you will hear this from a lot of bigger vendors is to use a scale to get the amount. Treat the location well but always try not to be seen unless you are close with the locations you are servicing, which is impossible once you get some volume under your belt. Short post, excellent advice. Instead of posting my own comment, I redirect new vendors to read this post again.
antoniocinisi
on my commission accounts I instruct my wife to face the owner manager of the location while counting money.I feel that it is better to do this so the money is out in the open and not "hideing".I want to give the owner the feel that we aren`t hideing or attempting to hide anything.I know that it will show how much we each made but so does the reciept I give them.I may loose locations because of it but so far I haven`t.none of our locations watch us like hawks either,I think partially because of this. o non commission accounts I count it home. ifishli
So in and out on the charitys and keep it to your self. Any slick ideas for keeping the head collections seperate to track product.
alyssamma
Ifishli, I would recommend simply looking to see which heads are getting lower and which aren't. Tracking by had will drive you crazy. If one head isn't moving, you know it isn't doing good.
mxer518
Commissions has been an annoyance for me since day one in this business but every day I learn how to refine it and make it go a lot smoother. One thing that I talk to every commission account about implementing is that they receive a quarterly check from my accounting department that way I do not need to waste time in the locations counting the money and fussing with tracking down the person to give the money to and writing a receipt. Instead I give them the meter readings at the end of every quarter when I do commission runs and the computer prints out every check and within 24 hours its in the mail. Once you get good commission accounts that are making a lot of money and more with contracts it is sooooooo important to install meters to take out any variance on the commissions paid. sweetstop
When we 1st started I wanted to track each candy from each location and came up with a way that we just stuck with over the years. Get the bubble envelopes at sam's club 6"x9" (they are very rigid) Put a label at the top for the location Stick 3 zip lock baggies inside for each candy When you get there just grab the envelope when you run into collect Put you coins in the separate bags (really only takes an extra minute) Log it into my spreadsheet when I get home. I can tell you how much money I have made from a particular candy or location at a glance
Paraflier
Counting quarters cheers me up so I grab the quarters and each location gets a different quart sized plastic bag I am going to try that! I want to keep accurate records, but don't want to hang out at a place counting money on site...Just doesn't seem right. So I had to decide to either grab 'n' go with a good estimate, or sit there with quarters. My sites not get their own Ziplock. L,R, and C. Why are really easy ideas the one I can't think of? ifishli
But the envelopes wont hold all the money that the vendstar guy told me was going to come out of the machine. I was thinking somthing with zip locks. but now bags in a bag sounds good. Ary you talking about the menilla shipping envelops with te bubble wrap lining? Please forgive a newbie's ignorance, but "install a meter" Where do you get these meters? Which machines will they work with? Please, tell me more! Thanks in advance! mxer518
ez-count has then and they will work on every machine on the market. Like I was saying they take out any question. Almost every account no matter what type of vending I am doing that pays a commission they get a sheet with the check with the meter readings at the time of collection, its professional and almost always required when dealing with national accounts. Paraflier
Pretty sure that larger soda / snack machines can be metered.... The bulk machines? That I don't know about. Mr thinks said metering device might cost more than the machine!
Mercury
Yes, just about any QUALITY (NW, Oak, Beaver) bulk machine can be metered. I just bought a bunch of older NW equipment that had wires/counters/switches in it for metering. The guy could sit at home and see exactly what he had sold! Pretty cool! Too much money for me though! I still have most of the boxes and switches.....might use them someday. Merc Pretty sure that larger soda / snack machines can be metered.... The bulk machines? That I don't know about. Mr thinks said metering device might cost more than the machine!
