Sparta_Automation
Looking for a good type of multiprice can/bottle soda machine that can be placed outside. They will be undercover (gas station canopy) but still exposed to the elements. Any suggestions on make/model? Thanks Travis
mxer518
Pretty much any full size machine will do the trick, the one that I would suggest and should be a snap to get would be a Dixie 501, you will be able to do both cans and bottles out of this one multi price machine. mission vending
I would concur with mxer518, you really can't go wrong with DN.
Technivend
If you are buying used and not one of the major brands check the serial number tag. It should say "UL approved for outdoor use". There are some units that are not outdoor approved or have just recently gotten the approval.
coinvestor
I like Royal 650s with the full front for outside. Just my preference. I have other machines outdoors that are approved for it, but they sure are not built for it (like Vendo 540 or anything Wittern). If you are putting a machine outside, spend the money for a hasp and hockey puck lock (about $75 and bolts on). I just got a contract for quite a few outdoor machines, and I plan on using this setup. JD great point, the hasp and round lock is very important, many people do not think so until a machine is broken into then they wish they had one. It might night keep people out of the machine but it works great for keeping people away from it and not even wasting their time trying to break into the machine. Poplady1
Boy is this the truth...spend the money on the hasps and the lock. Well worth it. Be sure to also hasp cover the upper corner above your validator. They can pick the bills right out of the box and you will not see a scratch. mission vending
As mentioned, hockey puck locks and hasps will be well worth the investment. You might want to also consider getting locks made with a registered key. I can use the same key to open my machines and puck locks. Whatever machine you use also check out the plate in front of the validator to see how thick the metal is. If it's only sheet metal you might want to consider reinforcing it. I've had a couple of times where the vandals used a sledge hammer to break through the validator and then reached in and took out the cash.
