Mercury Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 I rent a LOT of trucks, both local and one way from LA. I probably rent at least one truck per month. It is cheaper for me to rent, than to pay insurance, truck payment, etc, because I can usually do everything I need to do in one day. If you rent a lot, talk to your local place, tell them that you are going to be renting quite a bit, and would like a better price. My rental guy knocked the per mile charge down from $.59 to $.11!!!! Thats quite a drop! He also gives me a much better price per day. He didn't offer these prices, until I asked! Then he said "Oh sure, we can give you a discount!" Just ask, it can't hurt, especially if you rent often! PS-Budget has the best prices around here now. Merc
G-man422 Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 Thanks for the tip Merc! Like you said, it never hurts to ask.
Poplady1 Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Wow, what a great price. We worked with Enterprise Trucking, they gave us a pretty good rate but not that good. Hats off to you. Blue Moose
BluePlate Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Merc, I just set up a business account with Penske truck. I get the truck for $95/day (full insurance&taxes) and .11 a mile. The insurance is mandatory. This is on a 16' with an extra large liftgate. The reason I went with Penske was the liftgate, Ryder is similar but Penske is closer to my house.
caserri Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 BP, Don't get any ideas about putting a machine in that Penske. I already have one there!
Mercury Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 BP, Check out Budget's prices, if they are close to you at all. I think I'm paying $45/day for the 16' truck, with liftgate. Insurance is another $11 per day (mandatory on a business account there also, and a *damn* good idea!!!) Merc Merc, I just set up a business account with Penske truck.
