A&A Global machines ......Questions

I have a question about the A&A machines. I am looking at the PO89, PN95 and PM models. Does anyone know what the capsule wheels are like and how well they vend 1.1 caps?

I am interested in trying out toys (at this point I am thinking "glo-sticks") at 1 or 2 locations. I am trying to find a good machine that will reliably vend 1.1 caps.

I got a decent quote on these machines.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

A&A are quality Oak and NW knockoffs(almost exactly the same) made in Taiwan.  The wheels are the same as you would get if you bought either of the 2 above.

That being said, I don't own any A&A.  However, my NW's vend well, as anyone else can attest to.  As far as the Oak's, someone else might have some better info.  You can download their parts catalogue from the A&A website, all the wheels are listed with pics there.

I say go for it.

I just bought and put out 3 PN95's. Haven't done any collection from them yet, however I haven't gotten any calls for breakdowns yet. I used to get 2 a week from these loctions with LYPC machines.

I would buy the upgrade on the coin mech. They also charge extra for the coin tray. Ridiculous I say. I didn't buy the coin trays since I didn't know they didn't come with them until I opened them up. I'm sure I'll be getting them too. Without the coin trays they were $53/each (with better mech)

Agitation is key when vending 1.1 inch acorn capsules as you have experienced in your 1-800 machines!  The proper agitation is needed to shake those stubborn acorn capsules into the hole every time.  There are a few different designs out there.  One is the "propeller head springs" and the other is a "single hard spring".  The propeller head design has 3 springs that form a right angle from the rods attached to the wheel.  The single hard spring design has a longer rigid spring that is parallel to the wheel and is attached to the center pole.  I had problems with the propeller head design especially with lighter weight acorn caps and had about a 5% misvend rate.  The single hard spring is much more reliable and I have virtually no misvends or complaints with acorn caps when using that wheel.  NW and Oak use the single hard spring design and A&A uses the propeller head design.  The first picture is the propeller head design.  My very first post a few years ago talked about this at length if you wish to search for it.  NW and A&A wheels can be interchanged.  I only use round capsules with propeller head wheels.  I need my misvend to be close to zero since I have some owners (usually Asian) that freak out when they have to refund a quarter to their customer.  I have capsule wheels from A&A and I do not like them for acorn use.

OK ,

I will research this some more. Do any of you A&A users see a downside to A&A machines. It seems like it would be a cost effective way for me to go to try this out. If it goes well I may try some racks. I am still not sure about that one though.

Thanks,

David

David.......when I first started, I used the A&A Elites which is a dressed up PN 95.  They worked very well for me and I was very happy with their machine.  I do not think you will be dis satisfied with that choice.  It is a sturdy machine and takes a location with a lot of traffic well.

A&A machines are great.  and are made in the usa however some parts are foreign made.  A&A machines ship from MD.  ticker machines ship from CA.  They are made and painted etc in the us. the person that said there from tiwan hasnt a clue.

Yes, A&A is a quality machine and it should be since they essentially copied the NW design.  But getting back to the OP question, IMO the A&A capsule wheel SUCKS!  You will have more mis-vends with acorn caps with their style of capsule wheel.  I have experienced this personally at locations since I have some A&A wheels as well as the older generation NW capsule wheels that are of similar design (and probably also copied by A&A).  I have also tested both the A&A and NW capsule wheel in my storage unit and the A&A had a 5% mis-vend rate on acorn caps and the NW had ZERO mis-vends.  This year I have only had two complaints about toy mis-vends and guess what - both were using the A&A (propeller) style wheel.  NW redesigned their wheel for a reason and I am surprised that A&A has not yet copied it.  Just my 2 cents, but I would hate too see any one lose a location due to excessive mis-vends.

Not to get into a pissing contest or anything but, I have opened sealed cardboard boxes from A&A Global that contain their pn95's.  On the box reads "made in Taiwan".  Spin it however you like.

I think these machines will be good for me to do what I want. I talked to A&A yesterday and their prices are very reasonable. I have run through some cheap machines in the past and I am sure these will be fine for what I am after.

Jax, do the NW wheels that you use work well in the A&A machines? If so do you know where I can get a couple of them cheap? (You mentioned they are similar machines.)

Thanks,

Daivd

I don't own any A&A machines, just their capsule wheels.  An NW wheel in a A&A should not be a problem.  Sometimes the wheels are on ebay, if not call NW.  You do not need to order brush housing and can use the A&A housing, the wheel is about $6 - no bizop price gouging here!  You can still use the A&A wheel for round capsules.

  • 2 weeks later...

I received my machines this weekend. They are pretty nice machines. I am really impressed with how smoothly they vend. The wheel runs very smoothly when you turn the coin mech. I got some PO89 large panels. I think I will be buying more of these. Very reasonably priced and the 50 cent mechs weren't that much of a price difference at all.

I put a doulbe head at a very kid friendly location yesterday, with glo-sticks in it and RP. We'll see how they do. I am going to try the 50 cent vend to start (2 per cap). If that doesn't work well I will try them at 25 cents (1 per cap.)

Someone already has a rack located there and  mine is a charity machine so we'll see how it does.
