I was dropping off a machine that i had a locator secure for me and i guess the locator set a date and time for delivery but didnt tell me that so the next week i went to deliver the machine and the owner asked for my supervisors name and my name and wanted to know who i worked for. I told the owner that i would have my supervisor be in contact. he then asked me to write down the supervisors phone number and handed me a pen. i grabbed the pen and wrote down my cell phone number then i  got mad and didnt want the hassle on my personal cell phone so i scratched the number out and told him must supervisor would call him in the next day or two to replace.

As i got in the van he walked out the back door and wrote down my licence plate number.

WHAT DO YOU ALL MAKE OF THIS SHOULD I HAVE THE LOCATOR RELOCATE TO A DIFFERENT OR TRY AND TALK TO THE LOCATION. IT SEEMED TO BE AN OK ESTABLISHMENT.

WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK I SHOULD DO

Call your locator and find out what in the world did he say to the guy. I've heard of locators telling owners that they are the operator. Then once you have put in YOUR machine the locator comes back and takes it. Since the location thinks he is the operator nobody questions him. The owner must of thought something is fishy here. It may be your locator

Who was your locator?

They owe you a new location, no question. However I'd be very concerned about it, as the post above states. If your locator was someone reputable, like Kickstart of blue moose, then I'd just ask for an explanation and a new location. If it was a no name, I'd ask for an explanation to chart for future reference, but I'd also ask for a refund and never deal with them again. Only a few locators have earned the respect to over look that kind of situation. If someone asked for my "supervisor" to complain about me, I'd tell them to golpher themselves.

You should've known when the install was being scheduled. (I don't really like having them schedule it unless they have cleared the time with me. I have midwest do it, but since I never speak with Rob's locators they do not know my work schedule (as I have a day job) so it is always iffy. I overlook it because Rob's service, price, and locations are all excellent.

The one thing you should not do under ANY circumstance is accept that location. You'll be kicking yourself each day you have to deal with this worthless "manager" when servicing the account, and you don't want to leave something that valuable with such an insufferable golpher.

Information is important.

I would have immediately said, "I'm sorry, is there a problem?"

At this point I would do 3 things:

Continually asking questions to find, and narrow down the real problem;

Convince the person I was there to help him, and solve his problem;

Evaluate this person to determine if this person is seriously out of line, and not worth dealing with in the future, or just temporarily out of sorts.

If the schedule was the problem, apologize again, and state you were told that any time this week was acceptable, and you will be talking to them about it.  (Whoever them is.)

It helps if you act like you're a victim of the same circumstance also, and kind of put yourself as the "us" who was affected by the low quality service of "them".

Now the fact that your license plate was taken down sounds a little over the top to me.  Either this person was given some reason to believe there was something going on here, or this person is not functioning with a full deck.  The only reason I can think of to take down a license plate number is for legal reasons.

Sounds like a location I would not want to deal with.

Side story (hijack) Years ago (too many) I was annoyed by a driver, and gave the "bird".  Well this person later pulled up beside me and yelled, "I got your license plate number!"  I wish I could have been there as the police told this person about something called the First Amendment.

I am chuckling at some of the feedback describing this manager.  Excellent feedback here.

Shawn........take your machine and never ever see this guy again buddy.

Was this location a Chinese restaurant? I only ask because it sounds like every Chinese restaurant location I've dealt with.

I would go with the advice given here in terms of dealing with this locator. I would also not accept this location as it would just prove cumbersome for you moving forward given the way things started out.

One thing I would have done differently was when he asked about my supervisor, I would have made it clear that he was speaking with the owner of the vending company and politely asked him if there was a problem. That would have brought the issue to the forefront real quick so it could have been dealt with at that time.

I don't have time for beating around the bush. You either want my machine or you don't. Please decide now so I can get back to work.  ;)
