I have to share this:today I put 2 video games and an oscars wild ride in a skateing rink that opens next week.I have had visions of quarters all day long!!next week will be thier reopening for the year as it changed hands.I had an 8 select uturn there that did great a year or two ago so my expectations are pretty high.it seems that parents would give these kids 10-20 bucks and I bet that most of them wont have a quarter left in thier pockets by nights end!ohh I can`t wait!

Hi,

I run mostly arcade games, and have never had a skating rink, but would love to.  Most always want 10-20 machines and mostly brand new games so I could never justify spending that much on one location.  If it has traffic, it should do well.

I did have arcade games and kiddie rides at some moonwalk party places a few years back when those places were all the rage.  Those places did awful.  A $1500 pinball made $8.00 a month and then I had to split it 50/50 etc.  The problem with those places is there is so much the kids can do for free that the parents will not give them money for extras.

so the bad news is that the only way I could get in the rink was if I gave 25% on the oscar( not  so bad)but 60/40 for him on the games instead of the standard 50/50.I accepted since 1 of the 2 games has paid its self  and the other only cost me 83 bucks.not to mention that the place is a gold mine!they already tore off the coin chute on oscar but I fixed it.

I just got back from over there and oscar had made almost 50 bucks acording to the counter  in 2 days and the games are holding thier own!!I am so pumped!I am very happy I ran into this oportunity.

this will help iensly with my 2010 goal of being in the black!

I guess 40% is better than nothing but Antonio what up!! Is this kind of % what it takes to get in places like this? I think I'll stick to my little game plan. Giving $6 out of $10 away would get old quick I think. Maybe not? Regardless, congrats on a great location.

Faith Vending:in a recent thread we discussed max amounts of comission we would give to an account.I had said I would never give more to the location then I would make unless there were special circumstances. this is a very special location.on video games 50/50 split is the norm,so 60/40 isn`t that crazy of an amount.I bought one of the 2 video games I have there,a foosball table and a pool table for $2150.00.the game alone has made $1800.the other 2 items I have in storage.so any money the games make is all profit.I had an old lethalenforcer game in storage, that I set up to take a quarter.I figured I got it for 83 bucks and will make much more at the rink then sitting next to the pool table and foosball table in storage, and even if they mess it up(because they are very rough)it wont be a big loss.some kids wont have much money and the quarter game is all they might be able to afford and I dont want those kids to leave that place with a single quarter in thier pocket.

so even if 60/40 may sound like to much it isn`t compared to what I project the location will make, and it certinately is better then what they were makeing me as of 2 weeks ago.

I serviced my oscar today at this location and it had made 202.75 in 3 weekends and a day or $165.00 take home. oscar is on a more regular 25% of profit compared to the 60/40 split on the games.however  I am serviceing the games the first weekend of next month or whenever the dollar bill stacker is full whichever hapens first!!!it was half full so about $250 already.unfortunately after the split my cut will only be about $90 on that ,but on the bright side I havent looked at the quarters.that will be a surprise saved for me!!nor will there be any refilling of anything either.

I dont see how a location could believe they deserve MORE then the vendor. they aren't doing anything. why do they deserve a larger cut then the person incurring any and all expenses??

Because they can pull it off. The person doing the work frequently does not get the lion's share of the wealth created from the work. If the location does a good enough job at bringing in the kids, vendors will clamor for the opportunity. At the end of the day, Antonio's RoI on his investment should be very high, despite huge commissions. Those large payments may help him protect it from competition as well. My large commission payments helped me secure a very good location, and get the green light on doing changes to the equipment there because they believe in my ability to produce revenue. If I had the opportunity to do this deal, I'd take it. The profit is there.

JPVendco:I had to give that commission because the operator that has the vending and ecspecially the video game monopoly in my area gave him that much.while the location didn`t have any expenses involved in the games and vending items in there he did have to start a business take out loans advertise his arcade etc. in order for me to be able to put my machines in there. more importantly he also has to pay the electric bill.I only have 4 games total and 2 in there.1 of the 2 is a piece of junk, old lethel enforcer that wouldn`t earn anything anywhere else and the buck hunter game makes a killing since this is deer hunting paradise around here,I am glad no one wanted it when I posted it for sale on here. I am not a video game operator. I feel lucky I have this location.the location is only open weekends and I still am makeing great money there.like lurstman said it is very high volume.vendors generally have to give high commisions in the best spots like malls and this was the case here too.once again the games just sit there they dont need refiled and the oscars wild ride that does get refilled he only gets 25%of the profit not off the top.

with both of my businesses being involved with this location i take home 500 bucks a month.

so I emptyed out the machines today, needless to say I am happy with my take home.between the game and oscar it was over 200 bucks take home.this is also the second time I collect from oscar too or it would have been much more.

I also put a all star 6 way sticker machine in there yesterday and a 5 way 1 inch toy rack today. I put a 1800 machine on top and 2 oaks on the bottom of a small step stand.for now the oaks are 50 cents each and the 1800 is 25 cents.I bought from a member 3 50 cent coin mechs for the 1800 and I will switch all 1 inch toys to 50 cents in there once I recieve them.

that is all I have that I can put up there for now.if he makes it and reopens next season I will get a crane and possibly a gravity hill skll game or something similar.as you can tell I am trying my best to milk this location for everything I can.profitabilty in 2010 will come sooner rather then later if this keeps up.
