Bill Acceptors

Anyone know anything about bill acceptors?  I have a MAR 2500 series.  I need to upgrade it to accept the new $5 bills.  Is this something that can be done by a layman like me, or does it need to go to a pro?

Hi,

I believe all you need to do is get the updated chip.  Call a local distributor or Mars and see if they have an update for that model.

Some bill acceptors can't be upgraded, others require a chip and some only require adjusting a dip switch setting. Will you also upgrade the mech? You don't have to, but if you start taking $5 then chances are your mech will run short on change.

One solution to that problem that I use is to put the $5 acceptor in the snack machine and set one selection at a $5 vend price and then put coin envelopes in that auger with 4 1.00 bills and 4 quarters. Folks like it because they don't have to get a handful of change to put in their pocket. It's not the best solution but it works if you don't want to invest in a 4 tube mech.

If you have just one of these you wanted upgraded. Call mei to see if it can be upgraded I have some that can be upgraded and some can't. If it can send it in for a upgrade to changer services. Vendors repair gekey repair.  The up grader is like 80 bucks and to send it in foR a upgrade is like 40 bucks
