mmgrant73
Hi, I went to service some machine today. One of my vendstar 3000 back key got stuck in the lock (its stuck in the open position). It want turn at all. Any suggestions on how to get the key out. I'm thinking I will have to drill it out but not sure the best way to do this when the key is stuck in the lock. ( I need to get the key out in one piece, it fits 20 of my machines) Thanks
JPVendCo.
im guessing you just put a different back on it? spray some cooking spray on the inside part of the lock (opposite the key) then work the key until it comes loose. if not disassemble the lock and keep tryin. unless the key is damaged, you should be able to get it out eventually. Also- does anyone know where copies of this type of key can be made? I have one key that I don't have a back-up for, that makes me nervous..... mmgrant73
Ok, just case this happens to anyone else the easy way to drill out these locks (assuming you can get the lock off the back door) is to look on the threaded part of the lock and you will see a hole that is about 1/8" diameter. Inside that hole you will see a gold color pin. This pin is what holds the back part of the lock. Just get a 1/8" drill bit and drill the pin out. Afterwhich the back part of the lock can be removed and all the locks guts will come out with it. The key will then be freed. The lock is no longer good but at least you save the keys.
