adkarr24
I'm looking at some used Northwestern Super 60's. When I asked the seller about the keys/locks I was told that they currently have a 'flat key lock' but for $3 more the seller would replace it with a 'circle high security lock'. What is the difference and is it necessary to go for the 'security lock'? Thanks for the help!
JPVendCo.
if the security lock is a "quarter-turn" I would take it. if its not, it doesnt really matter.

JPVendCo.
I dunno, they are probably just gonna cut it open at the crack-house anyway :'(
adkarr24
When I asked if the lock was a 'quarter turn', the response was this: 'No it closes all the way around at half way'.

JPVendCo.
uhhhhh....ok. a quarter-turn lock, (for those of you that don't know) is a lock that unlocks with a quarter turn. it doesnt have to be unscrewed.
adkarr24
I know its only $3, but is this type of 'security lock' really going to make a difference?
JPVendCo.
the only difference is you cant tell what key it takes by looking at the slot. a regular key you can look at it and tell if it is one of a group of keys. the type of lock isn't going to protect you from the average criminal. Quarter Master
Adkarr24, The circle locks the seller is referring to is most likely a tubular lock. It uses a round key with a hole in the center. They are more secure than the flat key locks,(IMHO) but still won't keep anybody from snatching the whole machine. I think it's just a matter of personnel preference.
