Iolaus
On an annual basis, what percentage of your machines are you pulling and relocating? Is the 10-20% I've seen in some threads accurate? Is anyone much higher than this, say 30% or more? I'm trying to determine if it's worth going with Kickstart's gold package to get the $20 replacements for two years, or if I should just go with the Silver/restaurant only option. antoniocinisi
most likely it depends on the number of crummy locations you have compared to good ones.
lurtsman
30% of fresh installs or so will need to be moved. Of course, that depends entirely on how effective you are at picking places.
wevend
I have between 5 and 10% that will be moved when a new home for them comes up. I figure they are better in a poor location than in my shop!
tooldini
I have 7 locations and 2 seem to be poor performers but are also only a few months old and seem to get better each month. So I would consider relocation on 2 so far
Quarter Master
lolaus, Probably be a good idea to discuss that with a locator for your area, because rates are going to differ in all areas of the country. I may have a rate of only 5-10 % where someone in a big city may have a higher rate.
Jax Snacks
Don't forget about evictions! Charity locations are more volatile and can experience a kickout rate of 20% in some cases. So when you add the dud locations to the evictions, you can be as high as 40% replacements over the course of a year for a young charity route. Pretty depressing to say the least. Jax Snacks
Lolaus, I choose the silver/restaraunt and if it is a "quality" bulk location I ask the owner/manager later (3 or 4 months) about becoming a commission account. You really can't go wrong with restaraunts in my opinion. Thats how I roll. I like the way you roll there Kelly. A crane vendor once advised me to convert all good restaurants to commission. He was right! I still have all my commission restuarants and lost all my charity restaurant spots. Restaurants tend to have a high ownership turnover and that is usually bad news for charity machines. Jax

The Mage
Well if you do the math, it looks like replacing 12% of the locations is about the break even point. If you have to replace more then that, then it makes sense to move up the guarantee ladder. (silver to gold) And if I figured right, you would need to pull an additional 11% of the locations in the first 90 days to make it worth it to move to the platinum location from gold. My numbers are based on doubles with the rest/bar deal. So if you think that you will want to relocate 11% or more of the locations in the first 90 days, and you think you will need to relocate another 12% in the next 2 years, then the platinum is worth it. I believe the gold may be worth it, since it covers 2 years, but not sure about the platinum, especially since you are already covered for kick outs in that time. I think this is what the math is telling me, too.
