snack dude
I have come to the mount seeking wisdom................. I have aquired a National 474 drink/snack combo and a Rowe 4900jr snack machine. They almost gave them to me to haul them off. The problem I am having with the 474 is when you first plug it in the compressor kicks on and cools the drink section down until it kicks off and then will not kick back on again. If I bypass the little circuit board to the right of the compressor deck ( I do not know what this board is called but I am assuming that it is the thermostat and controller for the compressor) The compressor will run untill I unbypass it. So the compressor is good. Thinking that it was that circuit board I bought one off of another used 474 and that seem to fix it for about two days. I had it running in my shop and it seem to be kicking on and off and holding temperture for that time . Now same problem. So did I get unlucky and get a board that was going bad or is there a problem I do not see. This is the first 474 that I have ever had. The Rowe 4900jr, The validator is accepting bills and stacking them but does not register a credit. Everything seems to be working with coins. The validator is a CBA-2. I have not tried another validator yet because this is the only Rowe that I have and I do not want to buy another CBA-2 if I dont have to. Both these machines are in decent shape once we got them cleaned up and everything else seems to work. If I can get them working without putting major parts into them I will have two decent machines for next to nothing invested Any help or suggestions is appreciated Thanks Snack Dude
soco
Hey Snack Dude, welcome to the Rowe 4900 jr club! I'm having the exact problem with mine that you're having! Sometimes it takes the bill and stacks and credits and sometimes it doesn't. I pulled the board and looked for cracked pins, but they're all good. Checked the connector and they all seem to be good too. didn't want you to feel alone...
qualityvs
God I hate those CBA-2's use to have way many problems with them at the last vanding company I worked for. I have 2 machines (not 4900's) that have em and I have had the same problem. Mine was a harness problem I ended up cutting the harness and straight wiring it. That worked for a good spell until the CBA2 just didnt want to take bills any more. I ended up putting tape over the CBA2 that said coins only. Now that machine is in my shop and probably be for sale shortly. 474 that is the triac board and yes it controls the compressor. I have never heard of that hapening. I would check the temp setting (in the program) just to see what its at. Also when it stays off for so long what temp does it think its at (press and hold # button) and see if the decimal point is on or not (if its on the machine is calling for the compressor to run) it could be the temp sensor I have had problems with those I have also had problems with the harness between the main board and the triac board good luck

mission vending
I've got two old Rowe 4900's, both have coinco DBV, so admittedly not knowing about CBA's someone might want to investigate and compare connectors. That's all the assistance I can offer.
qualityvs
Yeah we all have to smoke test them from time to time.
