Rick Falcon
Just purchased a used vendstar you know the one everyone seems to be talking about. Pretty scary the whole thing is plastic from the stand to the mechanism. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons behind this beauty?
Clifford84420
I personally like the vendstars, they are great little units for small cafes`, small business lobbies and such. The BIG thing I dont like about they and only gripe I have about them is they do not have drop thru coin mechs! WHY?! ... Oh well, thankfully I have either never had anyone try to put anything other than a quarter into mine, or atleast had the person smart enough to pull the other coin back out lol. They can be quite troublesome at times to pull other coins out (I keep one at home for my 2 yearold to "play with" and get me and him snacks out of).... Ohhh and youll have a "build up" of coins above the coin tray, they eventually fall, never had one jam, but if you dont lift the candy canisters off and knock them down you could miss out on about $3 per head at servicing. Other than thoses flaws, I like the machines a lot, easy to service, easy to setup and change candies, and they look good in most venues.

agrantha
Vendstar is the only machine I own, although I only have five of them. Vendstars are not meat head proof, but they are good in locations with a mature clientele. I have one in a large office building, small airport, transportation service and a medal fabrication plant. Find a good experienced locator who knows the Vendstar. They know how to stay away from the meat head locations. One good thing about them, you can buy them very cheap on Craigs List and transporting them is a breeze.
JEREMYTINA
We have bought and sold a large number of these, and as long as they haven't been in repair shops, they tend to stay nice looking. They will change color if they are in front of a window with strong sun to the back of the machine. If they are perpendicular to the window in the same situation, the clear plastic will yellow on them. They other issues are the top locks are sometimes a pain to open as well as the backs. You just have to adjust the lock a bit by tightening it up some. The post may get stuck over time in the machine itself. A good strap wrench will grip and help remove the post with no problem in most cases. The machines are cheap on CL as agrantha said, but offer a much lower price than what they are asking for them. These folks seem to always have something to do with a biz op gone bad and are motivated to move them.
