JEREMYTINA
Does anyone have a spreadsheet they use to track sales by item, including cost, margin, etc by location they would be willing to share?
Poplady1
Should be simple to use a excel spreadsheet. Just list the location name as your header, type in each item in the machines, have a cost column, sale amount, etc. Shouldn't be to hard to set up. mission vending
Tracking the performance of your business is important. Not just COGS either. As you grow, unless your invest in software and handheld units this level of detail will bury you in busy work. For me, I keep a master list of the products I carry and their cost to refer to when changing items in a machine to make sure I price accordingly. Then I track my COGS for the entire business. Once you have several months you can avg the COGS and keep a running tab on it so you can see how you are performing and watch the trends. I also track, % or revenue paid out to sales tax, %of revenue paid to commissions, # of stops run monthly, revenue per stop and cost to service. Sparta_Automation
Attached is a form that I created and use for my vending machines. Hope it helps. Travis
JEREMYTINA
Sparta, Do you save a copy of your sheet by the month, or do you add to it and save it for the year?
Sparta_Automation
Actually, I just copy the form and create a new tab under the program for each month. So it's one Excel file with 12 tabs. If you get a set form, you can then actually then create a "yearly" tab that keeps tabs of what you sold for the entire year. I have attached my actual form that I'm using....please note that the "yearly" tab may not be calculating quit correctly as I was making some modifications recently....but haven't verified them yet. JEREMYTINA
Thanks a lot! Perhaps Steve could move this to the vending tools section.
