agrantha
I placed a VendStar 3000 on location Tuesday. Yesterday the location owner calls me. He went to my voice mail because my phone was silenced. He said I may want to come check on my machine because when he put a quarter in about 20 Mike & Ikes came out. He said he did not want me to loose money. I thought "how could this happen". I did what I normally do...Put candy in machine, put quarters in the coin slot and turn until I get a round in which the proper amount of candy is dispensed. The candy usually does not come out on the first quarter. Today I visit the location. Does anyone know what the problem is before I get there? Thanks, Anton
lurtsman
20 MI might be a little large, but given the low price per ounce you are certainly not losing money.
agrantha
Lurtsman I just got off the phone with the location owner. He said a hand full comes out every other quarter. I am thinking I may have not locked in the dial setting after I adjusting the dispenser. What do you think? Thanks
joebob051977
I am not a Vendstar expert since I've only had Vendstars for about a week now. But, from my mechanical view, I can only think of a few possibilities. Not locking in the dial setting sounds like the most feasible cause. I think you can also have 2 smooth sides on candy tube instead of one side that locks in the setting and a smoothe side. It's not as likely as not locking the dial in, but never the less possible (I think).
agrantha
Joe Bob That's OK. I fixed the problem. I just left the location. I took the advice of my locator and opened the cylinder as much as it would open for all my Mike & Ike Dispensers. The owner of the location exaggerated a little bit. But he was right that too many were coming out. I adjusted it to a little more than half way. I think I am going to do this for all my Mike & Ike dispensers. I am actually glad the owner notified me of this issue. It's funny because this location is a small car dealership and the owner is an honest man. I know I am a bone head so you don’t need to tell me.

JPVendCo.
a note on this issue, if it is dispensing more "every other" vend, check to assure that the opening in the canister is centered over the candy chute when in the neutral position. you will get more reliable vends.
