sterling
My machines will never be stolen from this location. I went to pick up my 5 foot spiral gumball machine to move it to a better location. First of all it was only doing $4 per 5 weeks after commission, secondly it wasn't close to my house. When I got there there was a new employee who didn't know me and I couldn't remember the owners name. I keep calling him the old owners name. He wasn't there and left his cell phone at the shop. I had limited time due to what I needed to get done plus I had a friend waiting for me at the other location and only had until 1:30p until he had to leave to make the Angeles Padres game. Well the lady kept insisting that she didn't know anything about me moving the machine since the owner hadn't mentioned I was coming. She couldn't call him and wanted me to wait or come back. Well you can imagine my irritation. I just explained to her it was my machine, she just watched me service the machine and pay her commission. She could even call the number on it and my phone would ring. She wasn't having it, niether was I. I just picked up the machine and started for the door. She blocked the door! I just kept coming. She finally gave way insisting all the time that she didn't like it and if he calls me and there is a problem, I would have to deal with it. I said, "there won't be a problem we have discussed this." On the positive side my machine will never by stolen from this location!
joebob051977
That is too funny! Don't you just love it when people think that they are in some way are entitled to your vending machines.
whaletail116
Props to her for doing what she could. And I agree, I imagine an actual thief would have given up..
markvend
That's great! I certainly haven't heard one like this before. Maybe we can put her on retainer or something to train other managers and owners to protect our machines. I could have used her with the 29 I had stolen last year.\ Mark
sterling
29 machines stolen! What kind of locations/areas do you have? Crack neighborhoods?
dperry
I agree, that is the kind of person I would like to have at one of my locations. I've had some locations where somebody came in and walked off with my machines. If only the workers there could have been as diligent with my machines as they were with yours. markvend
That's from a very large area I run, and a machine stolen here and there across the whole area. I did have one 5-way rack stlolen for the first time in those numbers. Yes I have them in some bad areas but can't really tell there much difference in those areas. I'm setting at about 1% which is lower than other years. One thing that's helped is getting on recovering machines Asap when a business closes. Stolen machines are a part of doing business, but you still have to use wisdom when locating. I inherited most of my accts when I bought the entire company.
