Question about starting

Recommended Posts

I just spoke with my apartment complex ( 200 apartments) and they asked me to place a combo machine in the laundry room. I will be doing commission of course but my question is this. I looked around and found a good deal on a fastbreak refreshment center. A 9 by 5. Holds 125 soda cans and 145 snack items. Will be paying 300 for the machine but want to know if parts are readily available. Did a diagnostic and the only thing wrong with it is one of the snack knobs are missing. I jsut need to replace this one and should be good to go but dunno where to start looking.

The account sounds like a great opportunity.  The Fast Break Refreshment machine would never hold up in this type of environment.  I think if you read the companies literature it states these machine are very susceptible to V&MM. Actually I think if you just sneeze near one of these machines it will spit out a snack or drink.

Try looking for commercial equipment that will hold up for you.  It may cost you a little more but they will work in this type of location. Look for a refurbished drink (Dixie Narco can vendor would work) and a Automatic Product or National snack.

Hmm I am planning on eventually putting a dixie narco in but wanted this to start up my cash flow. I only have the location set for another week so need to put the machine in asap. Think it will hold up for a month or two? The neighborhood is fairly decent and the apartment managers told me the last one held up well. I also voiced this concern. Another note though is that they have a sister apartment complex. I got the location for this one but if they like my service, I will also be the sister complex vendor as well. I want to get some great machines in eventually but need a filler so to speak till then...

Found a bad thing though. After doing some research, it seems the parts are hard to find. Can't seem to find it...

hmm thanks for the advice. I found a dixie narco 501 for the same price and its electronic. Only need to add refrigerant so I may just go that route. Glad I asked before I just went ahead and bought it. Also looking at an antares combo for 400. Seems like a good deal. Guy has 3 combos plus a snack machine and 5 dual gumballs for 1200. Says he is moving to alaska so needs to get rid of them. Seems like a good deal but since it is a very low price. Really has me wondering.

Glad you are going the route with quality name machines.  A word of warning on the soda machine....cooling systems are sealed units and should not have to be refilled.  The freon is constantly being reused.  If you have to refill the freon, that indicates that it's leaking somewhere and that will have to be fixed.  Now, the leak could be slow...and it will last for MANY MANY months, or you may have to refill every other week!

Good Luck and hope it works well for ya!

Why don't you run over to Spartanburg.  They have a large equipment reseller over there...I am pretty sure they will train and deliver the equipment for a small fee.

If you are going to start out with a decent stop you might as well set it up with the type of equipment that works and will bring in the income.  Nothing worse then having a good stop and trying to set it up with nonperforming equipment.
